Does anyone know the neck and freebore on the reamers GunWerks sells? The guys there a very hard to get ahold of.
Thanks,
Alex

Ya. Really hard to get ahold of. The reamer that they will sell you is for Berger 180 Hybrids. Not the vld bullets. If you want to hunt and use the vld bullets then you must send the reamer back to PTG and have them regrind for vld bullets.this will add about another 80 thou of freebore. Gunwerks setup their reamer for Hybrids. A lot easier to work up a load. They are the only people who say to use hybrids for hunting. Not even Berger will say it.
I have bought guns and gear from Them for years. I don't anymore. They are way to expensive for what you get know days.
You will only get about 1200-1400 rounds out of a 7lrm barrel. Just my opinion after owning a 7lrm and my 2 buddies aswell. A 7Rem. Mag will shoot at the same fps. I now shoot the 7rem. Mag.

Or you could just buy a uni-throater and throat it out. Weird that they're hybrid guys now though, they were big VLD proponents.

I did speak to them and they said they were using the hybrid. I was surprised, but they said they opened well. I wounder if they switched for accuracy reasons? I would think it would be much easier to get a factory load to shoot with the hybrid than the vld.

I personally don't know anyone using the VLD for hunting anymore, everyone has switched to the Hybrid.
That's good to hear. Do they open as reliably, or do they need more speed?

They open on coyotes in the 800 yard range I know, a lot of the Hybrids have a large nose cavity so we just check with a pin to make sure none are closed and they open very well.

Zfastmalibu. The 7 lrm with the original throat shooting 180 vld pressure was super high with 180 vld bullets with 67 grains of h1000, velocity was 2900fps. After throating,71 grains of H1000, velocity 3020 fps. This was with a Deviant la and a 28" Proof Research carbon barrel 1-8.4 twist.
I put together a 7 mag for a friend at the same time. Sako A-7 la, Proof Research 27" 1-8.4'twist. 70 grains of H1000, Berger 180 vld, 3000 fps. This was at 4000 elevation and 45 degrees .
So, on the whole hybrids or vld. I know people use all sorts of bullets. But even Berger at this time is still saying they do not recommend hybrids for hunting, to stay with the hunting vld line of bullets. Gunwerks made the move to hybrids due to accuracy in the LRM. It was taking to long to get a load for each rifle that left their doors. Time is money. With Gunwerks in my experiences in the last 18 months. They are taking the easy way and not the correct way in things. They have had a lot of turnaround in employees and both Aaron and mike are way to busy in promoting Gunwerks to be making sure product is correct before it leaves the doors. I personally know 4 weapons systems built by them that did not shot due to multiple of problems( bad barrels, incorrect bedding, bad chambers, bad machine wk to barrel and on and on. All 4 rifles had to be sent back multiple times.
Just my experience

yhen a 7mm remington with a 26 inch barrel is not that far behind the 7mm lrm.i see that people use h1000 for the best results in the 7mm remington agnum.
