788 Remington magazine spring????

I have the same issue with mine. It still works but its getting weak. I have seen a few mags for sale on Gunbroker. Might be an option. Don't remember seeing just a spring though.

Remington made 3 different actions for the 788. Might want to make sure that the springs are all the same. I don't have a clue and should for as many 788's I have had.

Leg length top and bottom ~2.07" each
Middle legs roughly 1.75" each
Overall spring path length about 7.64" (if straightened out.

Spring height relaxed roughly 2.1" avg.
Width 0.245"
Thickness 0.010 avg.

3 of the 4 are factory stamped 222REM mags, 4th is blank, no markings but identical to the rest.

Thanks guys, been tangled up with Drs this week and think I may have one found, Ggmac is looking , I certainly appreciate y'all getting back to help.. John

I’ll look more tomorrow. I know I have some , many problems were encountered when changing from factory chamberings to ackley or 257 roberts , etc . I remember using savage 325 mag springs and followers for some applications. Almost any single stack rifle or 410 shotgun spring can be made to work . So will using foam rubber to add spring and it takes up some room making the original spring seem stiffer , cut the foam and insert under the bottom leg of the spring .
One other alternative, single stack ak mags . They have a wire spring but it can be bent and made to work , it requires more work .
Farmer John , I hope the nerve burn works and you get relief.
