You are correct. It'll also need the counterbore removed and the headspace set. I don't recall the tenon length of the 788 so I can't say if the chamber will have to be cut as well, to set the headspace or if it can be set with the barrel shoulder/recoil lug.jasonf said:But the thread on the 788 is smaller than the 700 so a smith should be able to rethread a take off 700 barrel to suit your 788.
