75 ELD M ???

They're great, got sub-1/4 MOA 5 shot groups with my Savage factory barrel with them. I switched to 90 gr SMKs with my new barrel, but I think I'll be going over to 80 gr ELDs for almost identical performance at the same velocity for half the price.

I've heard the 88s are in the same boat as the 95 gr Sierras, you have to throat out your chamber so much is not worthwhile in the 223.

I worked up a load with the 75s this weekend. That’s 5 from a 20” #4 barrel, wylde, on a bipod. They didn’t like the lands on my gun. I like ‘em.

Are any of you noticing that the ELD-M bullets are finicky with their seating depth? I tried some of the ELD-M 80gr in my NRA/CMP service rifle (1-7 twist, wylde chamber) and am having difficulty with consistent results. I'm using AR-COMP, LC brass and CCI450 primers, seated .020 out.

The best "pattern" that I shot was using 22.4gr but every node consistently has 2-3 wide fliers.

Loading the 75 ELDs in my .223 bolt gun and it's very accurate with CFE223 and Varget. Some pics from load work up. CFE was 5 rounds and the Varget was 4 as my brass started running low. I load them at .020" off as I am able to with a bolt gun.

I loaded some for my 22 Creedmoor and they grouped nicely. However, I wanted to shoot the 80.5 Berger. But, I saved load info just in case.

@nbkky71 they do tend to like a lot of jump, I've heard as much as 0.050". When I was using the 75s they worked well at what I believe was around 0.020 off but I didn't have a great way of measuring where the lands are so it might have been less (Savage factory barrel, got the best results (sub-1/4 MOA) at approx 2.415" OAL). Same load shot great in my newer Criterion barrel with a much longer throat and therefore a lot more jump.

well, I gave the ELD-M' 80's another try, this time loading is groups seated from .010 to .050 off the lands. .030 was the magic number and the group size shrank to something that will hold the X-ring.

I've shot Sierra 80's and Berger 82's primarily and have never had to get this finicky with seating depth. These bullets almost seem to behave like VLD bullets! time to load some more up and stretch their legs at distance to see what they can do
