75 AMax in a 9 twist 22-250

I would think that you should have enough velocity to stabilize them.

Buy a box and let us know,please.....

i shot a 1/9 twist 24inch barrel with 75 amax..they did fine..however the box i bought was an older one with recommedation of 1/9twist...i have been told the new boxes are labeled 1/8 twist and a friend of mine said he did meausre them and the newer bullets were just a tad bit longer...so when i run out of the old boxes..ill be back to testing to see if the newer 1/8twist recom. will stabelize

My rig has a 26" barrel so I should be able to get a little more velocity. Also, what powder were you using fred? I have some H4350 laying around and I think that should be slow enough for that weight of bullet!

my best velocity was with varget...but h4350 was a close 2nd...i tried H4831ssc and H1000 but those were all too slow with the 75amax

I shoot H4350 behind the 75 gr. A- max in my 9 twist 22-250 with great results. Killed a coyote at 630 yds with it!!! Only takes 9 moa of scope adjustment to go from my 200yd zero to my 600yd zero. I say go for it!!!

really? 9 twist and 75 a-maxes out of an AR? What kinda velocity you get? how far have you shot them out to? do you load them mag length? what kinda powder you use?

I appreciate all the replies guys! Looks like I need to get some of these coming!! I need to get some stuff from Sinclair anyways so these will just go on the list as well. Thanks again all!

Mike

In a Savage LRPV 9 twist 22-250 the 75gr. new production AMAX's work great. The best load that I have found is between 37.5 - 40.0 grs of H4831SC. This load off a bipod @400 yards routinely turns in 3 shot groups 1 - 1.375". My skill level limits the rifle & load to 5 shot groups in the 2 - 3.5" @ 400 yards most of the time. Every once in a while a 1- 2" will sneak in.

wc872, its funny you mention that this is in a Savage LRPV because this rifle is VLP/DBM chambered the same. Looks like I might have to consider some H4831SC as a potential powder??
