70g VLD in 223

I received a rifle from a gentlemen on here and he said it shoots lights out with this load. I have never loaded 223. Any suggestions where to find some?

I think we need some details - rifle, barrel twist etc.
The 70g VLD is a bit odd to me. The 75g has the higher BC. The 70g is only marginally stable in 9 twist barrel. So why the 70g?

The rifle is a factory savage lrpv 7 twist. I picked it up to have a cheaper factory class rifle. It’s setup with a f class stock. Unfortunately it’s seems like the 70g vld which he shot and did his load development with are pretty much the same cost as my 6mm

I remember Walt saying the 70 grain bullet was one of his favorites about 12 years ago when I spoke with him. Not sure of all his reasoning but what he said when I was getting lot data/help from him.

I use the 70 vld in a 1/7 twist. It shoots better than any other bullet I've tried.
25.0 gr Varget gets 2950fps and sub MOA out to 600 yds.

In a 1:9 twist; they're about king of the road if the barrel likes them.

Any faster twist, and I'd be tempted to step above the 77gr range.

At 600y when restricted by the 2.260 mag length, the 70 vld gets to almost 77gr wind drift capabilities, but they're more free ramp sensitive. On mildly windy days, the 70 and 77 shoot similar, but on any day the 80+ still shoot inside them. Back to that 2.260" col limit and how important that is...

70gr VLD in 8twt 223 AI with a dose of Varget is a hammer with a capital “H.”
Haven’t tried them on fur, but paper targets are DRT!
