700SA in 40XB stock

I've got a 40xb stock on it's way for my 700 barreled action, neither the stock or the action came with screws, which ones do I need? Will the standard 700 ADL screws work in the 40x stock? I'm keeping it single shot too.

Get a pair of remington 700 action screws. May need to trim to length. Easy to do.

Ok, I just wasn't sure. I have no problem trimming them if need be, but was unsure if they were long enough.

You can order longer ones from Brownell's if need be and trim them to length needed. I have found that more times than not especially with synthetic stocks the original factory screws are too short. Maybe it is just my rotten luck. I can go to a free lunch and end up with a Heimlich maneuver!

I am pretty sure I just used the ones taht came on my BDL when I moved it to a 40X stock, so the regular wood stock BDL screws should be fine on the 40X.

I ordered an original wood 40x stock and don't have any 700 action screws at all in my stuff, so we'll see when it arrives.

Stock showed up today, I'm going to have to do some fitting. My gun is a RemAge and the nut doesn't fit the barrel channel. Also, the safety on the Jewell doesn't clear the trigger well. Oh, and I have a .250" recoil lug, so once everything can slide in smoothly I'll check for screw length. I'm thinking the ADL set will work though.

The originals worked on the one I just put together, but they were a scosh short. I got longer ones with allen heads, and then cut one of them to exactly the same length as one of the short ones. Forgot to do the math and add the extra length as I measured it. I'm still shooting it with the short one, but Immagonna fix it. The little buggers are kind of spendy for a tight-wad like me. jd

I've got the screws coming, but now if I could just find a single shot adapter that is glued in the action, not a follower because there is no magazine at all. Or if someone has some clear photos of one I could make my own.

Hmmmm. These don't have the "custom hand crafted look" that I achieved with my scrap of bamboo flooring, but they look like a pretty practical way to go. I think they're gonna get some of my money. jd

Used these on a 700 .308 that I put in a 40x rimfire stock for the wife. Epoxied it into the action prior to bedding.

Works well.
