70 grain bullets in 6 Dasher.

Any of the crew here load 70 grain bullets in a 6 Dasher for hunting purposes, and what loads and mv and results are you getting. Thanks, Barlow

PM potatoe,

If my memory serves me, he shot the 70 and varget with excellent results.......

Phil.

Phil is right, I had a few dashers for varmints. The 12twist liked the 70's. My load was warm and in a bat action so the usual precautions. 36+ gr of varget but a long drop tube was needed & .010 off the lands was my load. They were going 3685 ish out of a 28" barrel. My other load was right at 36 grain with the 80s @ 3550 if I remember correct. I tried n135 but got pressure signs in both dashers before my velocity got up.

I am shooting the 68g Bergers with H335, 7 1/2, accuracy and speed is fantastic to say the least! 55g Noslers are 4130 fps with sub 1/4" groups...H335 with 7 1/2's, 26" barrel, unturned blank.

Thanks for the replies. I use 87 gr vmax's at 3246 right now and it works very well, but was thinking about speeding things up. It's an 8 twist Rock Creek 26' on my Marlin X7. I'll dwell on this a while. Thanks again, Barlow

Barlow, your Freebore for the 105 is going to bite you on the butt when it comes to using the light bullet. Figure 3550-3650 for the 70's, you will be in the right ball park.

I love H335 for the 55-75g bullets, Very, Very long barrel life...

Thank you for the heads up. Have you tried RL15 with the 70 gr bullet? Barlow
