7 Rsaum powder recommendations!

I've got a reamer ordered for this build and who knows how long that's gonna take, hopefully have it by mid December. In the mean time I've started to gather stuff for it. So far I have federal primers, I've got some CCI primers, some mag, some regular. I've got ADG brass. This will be a combo of hunting and competition rig. I've got a 284 and a dasher as well but wanted to try something different. The bullets are 180 hybrids and 180 VLD hunting. I've got plenty of H4350 but not sure that'll work. So help me out guys.

I've tried the search function but a lot of post are 5-8 years old. I know technology moves fast.

Thanks

Oh yeah, the barrel is a heavy varmint 8 twist Brux. will finish at 28". Defiance action.

My rifles have really liked RL-26 BUT if you don't have it on your shelf it's non-existent. A guy I know loves MagPro with standard primers. Quite a few guys use H-4831 but I couldn't get the speed out of it. You'll probably see more H-1000 loads posted than anything else and many have good results with it. Shot good in my rifles but RL-26 was better by a tick.

Mine loved RL26 with 197s. However its currently shut down as it developed the worst carbon ring I've ever seen. I'm on like my 3rd product trying to get rid of it. Hopefully I can get it shooting again.

Keep at it, you'll get it. Carbon rings are not indestructible.

For the European shooters listening in; N165, N565, N568 or RS76. My choice is RS76 with 190 gr LRHT for bullet speed, barrel eating speed and precision but my mate uses N565. He beats me on comps but he is the better shooter.

Happy shooting and hunting Mats

I usually compare 7SAUM load data for my 280 AI when I cannot find a bullet weight/powder listed for the 280. Both have essentially the same cartridge capacity. I have used Staball and 4350 for the lighter bullets. In the 180 class I use IMR 7828 and H4831. I get about 2850fps with 58 grains of 4831 with the Hybrid. It’s LONG,
about 3.630” at 10 off the lands. I’ve pushed it over 3000 but it’s tough on brass. I could not get Magpro to group, but I was fighting a bad carbon ring. May try it again (next barrel). I had a good load for the 180 VLD hunters, 58.0 of 7828. In my barrel that bullet liked to jump about 50.

Another vote for H4831SC. I've got a mild load pushing the 175 Berger Elite hunters at 2813 fps. My last chrono check before mule deer hunting this season showed 3/5 rounds at 2813 fps and the other 2 very close to it. I've found it to be very consistent.
