7 million new shooters since March 2019!

Well, 7M new gun owners at least. That 100 rounds of ammo might last them a year. I'm hoping its 7M new people to vote the way we all need them too.

Are there 7 Million new shooters or 7 Million new gun owners? Big Difference, I bet many bought something and then put in the closet and don't shoot, not all but many.

That will be 6,797,324 guns on the market in a year or two at severely discounted prices with ammo included for those of us that actually shoot them to buy. :)

How do they know the 7,000,000 guns were bought by people who had not owned a gun before?

Assuming the 7M number is just the number of firearms sold, my guess would be no more than 1/2 of them went to people who had not owned a firearm.

If that is the case ,7 million new first time gun owners since March of this year that means the NRA should have at least that many new numbers to help protect those rights to be able to buy that gun in the first place. My guess is a very small number actually joined the NRA,sad if true.
WHEN the NRA cleans up it's act, I'll get back in with both feet.

Just remember folks, it is OUR duty to teach these new shooters proper safety, range etiquette, marksmanship etc etc. The large majority want to know these things and will respond well to polite guidance.
As long time range officer I have a little knowledge there.
I help people when asked but I don't believe it's our duty

If the NRA and Wayne parted ways, the NRA's numbers would skyrocket. A lot of people have walked away from them. This is probably a bad time for that to happen, we need them now more than ever.
this is exactly how I feel.

Maybe not "duty", but it should be our responsibility. All it takes is one or two instances of ADs or, God forbid, accidental shootings, and a majority of those first time gun owners become the poster children for "buy backs" and other programs aimed to take away our guns. They will blame the tool, not their inability to use it properly. We, as a community, should always take the time to educate those who are new to the fold, and those on the fringes, as they are the ones who hold the keys to our continued enjoyment of our shooting sports (whether they ask for help or not).
I have found that if I am polite and friendly and offer the advice in the spirit it is intended, that is because I care about their safety and the safety of everyone around them when they have a gun in their hands, people are almost always willing to listen and to adopt what I am trying to tell them. YMMV, but it has worked for me and I will continue to do it.

As for the NRA, they have screwed the pooch too many times at the Federal and State level for me to ever give them another dime. There are much better organizations out there that are actually concerned about our rights as gun owners, such as the Shooting Sports Foundation, Gun Owners of America, and the American Suppressor Association.

I'm not opposed to stewardship but I don't owe anybody a damn thing, ill help if asked otherwise I just prefer to stay in my lane.

I am not really happy with a lot that has gone on in the NRA lately, and I have suspicions that the problem may be with Wayne LaPierre, but I can't claim to know for sure. Like it or not, the NRA is our biggest voice. We should really put our opinions aside, join or stay in the NRA and all vote Republican. We really have the numbers to make this a better place for shooters if we stay united. Join some of the other organizations along with the NRA if you feel that they are more effective..
