how about some data to go with that statement ??
the 1k heavy is a 300 wsm. featured in an artical up front. under 3' 100 POINTS...bothe group and score records.

There was an article about it on this site. The rifle originally was owned by Sam Hall. I scrolled back and did not find it. The 300 WSM record is a more recent record that I also saw that article.

Thats it! I was off base about HG but WOW!! Looks like I was also wrong about twist. Well at my age I guess thats what I get quoting from memory.

if you are into theories...one clearly shows that longer bullet bearing surfaces prefer faster twist rates. If you want to stay with a 6 mm bore dimensions for an example ...look at the long 115g dtacs, 109's and 110's, and note the twist rate that works best for them. Contrast that with flat base 6mm bullets and a short ogive. There is a lot more to selecting a twist rate than just bullet weight.
Having said all of that, it still depends a lot of other factors. But it is Monday and why not start off the week with a lot of opinions. lol.

I have had quite a few really good shooting 6 Dasher barrels. With that said, I had one 7.83 Brux and it shot smaller than all them so far. It didn't last very long but it did shoot tiny. I have a couple on order right now. FYI that was with 103 VT bullets. 7.5-8 twist, it really doesn't matter.

I have 3, 7.83 twist blanks here, none for sale...lol. 2 straight tapers for FClass, and a modified HV I can make 17# with. 1.050" at muzzle. The modified HV will be 1st.

7.83 is not a twist but the gearing of the barrel making machine they use. I belive it is a 7.5 twist.

The reason I asked that question because of the oddity of twist rates they mentioned here we have an old Pratt &Whitney I don’t think it would give us those twist rates.
Granted the one we have was used to make muzzleloader barrels back 40 years ago.
My main reason for inquiry is we don’t use this old machine but after researching it probably would only be good for muzzle loader barrel 30 to 62 twist I think it would be for sale.
