Got several dies that the threads are damaged! Where do I get a threading die from or anyone have one I can use? I have looked on e-bay but do not know which to buy!! Point me in the right direction! Thanks wheelgun7360

Most sizing dies are hard as woodpecker lips. Not very deep, but hard....like case hardening. If your threads aren't real bad, it might work fine but I agree with the poster that suggested a restorer type of die vs a std die...or as someone else suggested, just a triangle file might do as well as anything.

Just go to Harbor Freight buy the $90 large die inch set TiN costed, that 7/8 X14 cuts damaged threads well...but cutting new threads on steel not so much, a lot more effort....it will do it, with a good vise and dark heavy thread cutting oil available at home depot. Cheap and does the job for the average guy, on a non production level...especially thread restoration...And seriously use the dark heavy threading oil to prevent galling.
It will work...I use them for this.... Or stop by and I'll let you do em for free, in a few minutes time ... Plus You'll get a free education. But nothing like made in the USA for good easy threading dies.

"hard as woodpecker lips:
That's a good one, also excellent reason for carefull use of triangle file. ( could be the file just skates on top of the hardened steel) Reloading dies, and threading dies both hardened tool steel, some reloading dies carbide. If you use a threading die as Ray says use a good cutting oil ,you are going to find out which of the two is toughest.

Have a great day

How did the dies get damaged? Reloading dies are harder than Chinese arithmetic!
Set screws especially Redding's I use a USA made thin blade putty knife and wet dry sand paper to get rid of the burr, abrasive paper will cut (grind) easier than files. Even though once past the struggle I will never adjust again, I still might so I have to make them smooth just in case, When I get new or used dies most of the sizers get Hornady rings at the start

Use this type of lock ring. No more problems!
