I just picked up a Mosin 91/30 sniper. I ordered some winchester ammo for it, mostly for the brass.
I plan on using CCI BR-2 primers and H4895 for a start, not sure on a bullet though.

Here is THE LOAD for most any 7.62X54R. I collect and shoot all kinds of military rifles and I have 6 different models of the Mosin Nagant rifles. The first thing you need to do is slug your bore to see what size bullet you need. Take a .315 lead ball and drop it into the chamber end and take the cleaning rod that comes with the rifle and tap the lead ball into the bore. You will also need some wood dowel rods long enough to finish pushing the slug out the muzzle. Measure the grove diameter, the high spots, on the slug. If it is .310 to .3105 use .311 diameter bullets. If it is .3105 to .3115 use .312 bullets. Most of the load data you will find will list .308 bullets. Don't waste your time trying .308 bullets. most of these rifles like heavy bullets. Here is THE LOAD. 50 grs Accurate Arms 4350 Graf/Prvi case,,Grafs & Sons have the cases, and they are all made by Prvi Partizan even the Winchester.) CCI 200 primer, .311 Sierra 174 gr. MK or 180 gr SP, OAL 3.000 or .312 Hornady 174 gr. RNSP OAL .2.790 and this is very important to accuracy. USE A LEE FACTORY CRIMP DIE ON ALL LOADS. You can go to the Forum at www.surplusrifle.com and look in the Mosin Nagant section and see how to accuratize your rifle. These old rifles will shoot. Especially if you can come up with a Finnish M-39. They are the cream of the crop in my book. Oh! Don't waste your time with milsurp ammo for accuracy. Most of it is not accurate and it all has corrosive priming.
