I'm considering making a switch from 284 to the PRC. Has anybody in F Class shot out a barrel yet? How many rounds? I switched from the 7SAUM and don't want to go back to a shorter barrel life.
Thanks
Thanks
That is to be expected on the 6.5 but he is, I believe, asking about a 7mm on a 6.5 PRC case. Could be I am wrong about his question.I overheard a buddy of mine saying his throats eroding bad on his 6.5 prc. I would have to think less than 1k rounds and i know he has pushed it hard the whole time.
Combination of reasons. First, I like trying new things and enjoy the process. Second, I'm at the bottom of the component food chain and with the upcoming Lapua shortage of 284 brass it may be tough to get now. I only use Lapua brass, maybe to a misguided fault and I have a limited supply.Probably not much difference with comparable loads in powder and pressure. Why are you considering this change?
Annealing every time on the AMP and using One Shot to size.John -- thanks for the report on 7-6.5 PRC. That's good news on the barrel life.
Do you anneal each time for this brass?
What are you using for a case lube during FL sizing
And what's the rough average round count when retiring a competition 284 barrel? ThanksI'm three barrels into mine and they all have 900+ rounds with the highest around 1300 and they still hammer for me. I'm going to ride them out through the winter to see where they go. One of the two barrels I shot most of Nationals with a few weeks ago finished the last day at a couple rounds under 1000 rounds on it and I turned around and shot 3 days at the California State Championship and the waterline continued to stay tight and I finished with around 1240 rounds on it.
Lapua brass life has been amazing as expected. Shot most of mid-range with brass that was on it's 10th and 11th firing and zero issues.
