7-300PRC?

Has anyone made one? I have a 7mm barrel on the way that I had planned doing a 7-300WM, but was interested in seeing if I could pick up a little more speed with the PRC cartridge

There's been some interest in it. All it would take is a reamer, which I'll split the cost with someone, when the first one ordered.
It would be a bit overbore but fast and flat would best describe it.

Wouldn't this essentially mirror a 28 Nosler?

I was working on one. Only I was looking at a .35 Degree shoulder.

I would keep it as is. I have 338 and 30 cal dies. Size the neck down to 7MM and use the correct size bushing in the 30 cal dies. That's the easy way and you certainly don't need any more capacity. 5 degrees on the shoulder wouldn't get you much.

Look up 7mm-375 Ruger. People have been wildcatting on that case with 7mm, 30, and 338 for years since it first came out. I think one guy even went so far as to do a 6.5 on the 375R.

I have a 338-375 Ruger that I built about 6 years ago. Awesome on deer and elk and amazingly fast round for it's size. Extremely efficient. Launches 250gr Berger HVLD bullets at 2980 fps from a 26" barrel using only 76.5gr of RL16. Same charge of H4350 is about 30 fps slower

No, the 375 Ruger has a 30º shoulder. Hornady engineers like the 30º shoulder.

Hmmm, I looked at an original 375R case spec and you're right. Maybe it's just the way I specd my reamer years ago and I forgot. I always thought the 375R already had a 35 deg shoulder. Thanks for setting me straight ;)

Stuck with Hornady brass???

Why not go 7/300wsm

The 180 Berger nodes are 2820ish 2930 ish and maybe 3000....there are plenty to do this with 35 or 40’shoulder already?

The tight neck version has a 30' shoulder and the body blown out. The hunting version has a 35' shoulder and the body blown out. Pretty much Win Mag capacity. Out of my 1K BR rifle I could push 175 SMK's to 3100.
The 300 PRC came into being to replace the 30 BooBoo. Like 12 years ago.

Why were you trying to replace the Boo Boo Dave? I know guys that have blown out 8x68 brass to the 375 Ruger chambers with success just because the 375 Ruger brass is pretty soft.
