7-270 WSM, barrel length ?

As above ,getting a hunting rifle built and would like suggestions on min barrel length to shoot the 168gr vld berger bullets at 3k +.Its a 1-9 twist 5r barrel .Was thinking 22"-24" but not sure !

you did not mention the caliber, and reguardless the 162 at that velocity to achive 3000 is a streach even in a 26 inch bbl unless you want to burn 70+ grains

300wm 26 inch 9 twst, 165 turn 3150 with good loads

you will loose 40-50 fps per inch and more as you get down to 22

so consider the caliber,

Sorry Bob ,its a type of 7wsm using .270 wsm norma brass (7-270)!Any way, your saying 26".......thank you for the reply

I shoot a 7mm wsm with 65.5grs of Re#22 out of a 26" bbl I can easily get 3100 fps with 162gr A-Max.
