Yesterday, July 20th, Harry Jones held the fourth 600 Yard Match of the year. The shooters were blessed with a calm morning but the mirage worsened as the match progressed, obscuring the targets down range. However, the shooters of light, heavy, and tactical classes prevailed for some of the best shooting of the year. In the light gun class, Gary "Bulldog" Fluharty swept the competition, shooting the lowest aggregate group (1.869 inches), highest aggregate score (197), lowest individual group (1.121 inches), and highest individual score (50 with 2 x's). In the tactical gun class, Mike Thompson similarly swept his class, shooting the lowest aggregate group (2.13 inches), highest aggregate score (197), lowest individual group (1.047 inches), and highest individual score (50 with 4 x's). Girls get it done in the heavy gun class, with first-time Harry Jones shooter Emily Loudin showing up the boys of Harry Jones, shooting the highest aggregate score of 194 and winning the heavy gun class overall. Tim Hoyt shot the lowest aggregate group 2.054, Mike McWhorter shot the highest individual score with 50 points and 3 x's, and Ken House shot the lowest individual group at 1.506 inches. In the two gun overall, Henry Brewer shot the lowest aggregate group at 2.051 inches and Emily Loudin shot the highest aggregate score at 391 and she also won the two gun overall.
Thanks to all our participating shooters and all those who worked in the pit crew, scoring shed, on the scoring line, and our cook. We hope to see you at our next match and our annual 1000 Yard Nationals hosted in association with the Freedom Benchrest Association.
