7-08 Build on Savage model 10

Have wanted to do this for a long time, and was recommended to Northland shooters supply, to start the process. I'm told they have Criterian barrels, and Shilen.
Just looking for some do's and don'ts. Rifle is in Bobby Hart stock presently. Was thinking about 24 inch, varmint, or straight. Thoughts, or suggestions appreciated in advance.

Northland is good to go. I always buy their new recoil lug and barrel nut as well. Send your bolt to member @Grimstod for firing pin bushing and a lift kit while you wait on your new barrel.

What are you using the gun for? I ordered my last one NSS Criterion in light varmint and it is a pleasure to carry compared to a varmint contour. I have a varmint contour 204R in a Bobby Hart stock and it’s not very walk around friendly at all.

Savage actually made a 7-08 with a heavy barrel. I have one.

Pillar & glass bed the stock

Torque tune the action (it is worth it on a Savage action)

Mostly hunting, but not where I have to carry it too too far.
I have always loved all things 7mm. In fact, at one time,everything in my cabinet was something in seven.
Ballistics are great, frontal diameter is adequate, and bc, and sd, are great.
I could even do a little target work as well. I now have two creeds, one heavy, and a lite one on the way. Now I want to play a little.

That thing must be a shooter.
I have a Dicks special, 308, with 20 in barrel, that shoots long range lites out! Killed a ground hog with it at over 400 yds, after I put the Hart stock on it.
