I think D. Tubb tried his 6XC as a 6.5 & didn't see anything about the combo to warrant further development. As you yourself stated, the 6.5x47 is pretty near the same thing (save for the small rifle primer) as is the 6.5 Creedmoor. Up (to 30 cal.) or down (to .243 or 6mm) you have your choice among a wide array of variants on commercial cases that weren't available 10 years ago.
I had a partner that was going to do that and his 'smith showed him that there was actually very little difference in a 6.5xc and the 6.5x47 Lapua. So he took the 6.5 Lapua route. He was very happy with that.
Now if you decide to go with a 22xc.... that's what IMHO could be the next best thing to a 220Swift (if you're looking for a varmint/predator cartridge). WD
