6XC & RL16 Recipes

So I see that there is some stuff out there for the creed sort of but nothing on the 6xc really. I have a new remage barrel coming in this month hopefully and was wanting to get a leg up on the cartridge before it comes time to load up for it. In the creed they say that its a pretty close approximation with H4350 but then again that always seem to be people saying tier dasher does this or their x47 does that so it should match up for the XC as well without any actual first hand experience with the combo.

Anyone have any info on the RL16 for their XC on where my minimum and maximums should be for an initial ladder test?

I've attached my spreadsheet of MAXIMUM loads culled from a half-dozen sources; seems no one likes RL16 enough to publish it. RL17 sure is popular, tho, and that's what I bought 10 pounds of.

I'll have to check my notes to see min and max on my ocw test, but I settled in at 39.2 grains of rl16 with fed. Match primers. Puts the 105 hybrids out around 3150 and excellent accuracy.

Your bbl length please.

anybody using the IMR-4451 in place of H-4350 for 6XC?? cant find H4350 down here. Lots of IMR4451. Just wondering if anyone has already switch to the 4451 & what loads have they tested with it.

Does no one shoot 115gr out of A 6xc??

I tried your load in Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor brass reformed to fit my 6 xc rifle. No chronograph info but 5 shot group with Sierra 107s grouped around an inch at 300 yards. Are you using large primer Norma or Hornady brass for your rifle? I'm getting similar results with H 4350 but had 8 pounds of re 16 and was grateful for your load info. 39.4 of 16 didn't group as well as the 39.2 load. I'm about .009 off the lands. Primers didn't look inordinately flattened.

I am using norma brass with federal lr match primers. I can get right at 380 yards where I load develop and the 105 berger hybrids shoot around the 1" mark with 3 shot groups the sd stays around 7 with an es of usually 13-15. That load is with the hybrid jumping .015 off the lands. I haven't played with the 107 smk's a whole lot, but the same charge shot a 1.1" 3 shot group jumping .010 off lands at 3062 fps with 4sd and 7es. I have now been messing around with the new sierra 110smk. The best I have done with it so far is 1.3" group but I had to bump the charge up to 39.4. That put them out at 3100fps. As far as my ocw test, looking back at my notes I went from 38.6 - 39.6 and never showed pressure signs in my gun. That was all done with the 105 bergers. I never tried h4350 a whole lot mainly because it was non existent when my riflesh was completed, so I can't really comment on how the tworld powders compare in my gun, but so far I am very pleased with rl16.

Thanks so much for response. I like the r-16 results enough to keep tweaking with JLK's. Am undecided if work involved getting small rifle primer brass to 6xc specs actually shows improvements on paper over Norma large rifle brass. Your post is quite helpful.
