6XC loads for 87gr. v-max

I'm currently rebarreling a Rem.700 in 6XC. Barrel is a Broughton 5-c 1-8 twist 27 1/2" long. I'll be shooting mostly 105 Scenars, but want to try some 87 Hor. v-max for varmints. I currently have a supply of both Varget and H-4350. Any help on this would be appreciated.

1shot - I too am looking for suggested loads for the 87 V-Max. I am about to rechamber a Win 70 SA from 6BR to 6XC because no matter what I do I can't get the 6BR to feed reliably, even with controller feed. The barrel is a flutted 26" 1x10" Krieger #5 contour with just over 1200 rds through it. In 6XC I should be able to have a 5 rd magazine and reliable feeding.
When I work out some loads I'll keep you informed.

My son shot some 87gr balistic tips in his 6-250 using Varget and they shot into a near ragged hole. I want to say he used a grain more powder than for his 105gr load.

I shoot 85 grain GameKings in a 6XC Tubb2000. I use 38.5 grains of H4350. This is a very mild load, according to the tables. I use it at 200 and 300 yards.

On my pacnor 28" 8 twist 3 groove 6XC with a freebore/leade set up for 105/115's, 41.5g H4350 and a substantial jump,it doesn't seem to care about OAL) is ~3325 fps and accurate with a coated 87g vmax. There is probably another accuracy node at or near a compressed load, but I'm not too concerned about finding it.

My buddy loads 4350 w/ 87gr V-Max in his 6XC. I don't recall the powder charge weight but I do remember that he said the powder charge fills the case to the shoulder/neck junction.

I shoot a 6x250AI,which is similar to the 6XC) w/ 87gr V-Max and found that 4350 loaded to the shoulder/neck junction shot very well. Anything heavier and I started to see pressure signs.

The two guns mentioned have a slower twist than yours. The 6XC is a 1-12 and the 6-250AI is a 1-11. So it stands to reason that your quicker twist may require a slight reduction in powder charge weight.

I've just in the last 24hrs tried the 87 v-max through my 6xc, tube is a krieger 26", 1 in 7.75".

Ladder tested ADI2209,H4350) - 40.6, 40.8, 41, 41.2gr, projectile seated to just touch the lands. Velocity was cranking, around 3170 up to 3250, with no noticeable pressure signs, apart from a fair boot in the shoulder). I was a bit surprised about the lack of pressure signs, given I could feel it was hot from the first round and expected to have to give it up around 40.8gr.

Accuracy wasn't up to scratch though - nothing better than just over 0.5MOA @ 100yds in a rig that has shot in the 0.1s with Lapua 105gr VLD. I suspect seating depth and too much velocity as the culprits there. If I downloaded it a bit, perhaps I'd get a better result. In fact, in another rig, I'd strongly recommend you reduced the load at the outset, for safety's sake.

I should add that belting these off downrange at those speeds also did nothing for the throat and caused more fouling than usual.
