6XC ... Is it toast?

Just a thought, what was the velocity on your "load" when the barrel was new along with the jump to the lands that was the sweet spot.

Adjust powder charge to that "new barrel" velocity, adjust seating depth to the same jump, fire for effect.

Note: some abrasives open up bore dia also.

It's pretty close. But my old data was taken with a CED M2 and the new velocity is with a Magnetospeed. I don't remember how close they are to each other.

If u “ Slug” that bbl. u will be educated on where the wear is. Those 115 gr. 6 mm bullets will definitely accelerate that bbl. wear. Years ago, Kevin Thomas tracked bbl. life of a 6mm bbl. shooting 107 gr. Bullets vs the lighter BR/ Varmint wt. bullets n saw the accelerated wear of the heavier slugs. 115s take a heavier toll than that. The 6XC and ur RL 17 are trying to achieve what a larger (243 SLR) does with ease. Get those 115s to 3050-3100 FPS. u pay the price in lower bbl. and case life.
When u rebbbl. use the diamond lapping paste every 200 rds or so and keep that throat smooth. Accuracy will last longer.
