6xc Help

I recently built a 6xc and a friend of mine has one with the same issue. Problem being ES is extremely high when getting close to 3000 fps. We are both running 1:7.5 twist barrels using H4350, 105 bergers and Norma brass. If we stay around 37.5 grains of 4350 ES is single digits. Any thing above 37.5 spreads run around 60fps. I have tried Varget with lower ES but ran into pressure at 2900. I have tried BR2, ccI200, and FED 210m primers. Also tried multiple seating depths from .010 off to .060 off. I am finding half moa nodes at 200yrds but over a minute vertical strings at 1K. My rifle specs are Defiance Tenacity action, Hawkhill barrel chambered specifically for 105s by Shawn at Hawkhill, Manners EH2 stock, Triggertech trigger. Annealing after every firing, .002 neck tension with a .002 shoulder bump, and cases have been sorted. Any advise would be appreciated. I am not apposed to trying another bullet in the same weight class.

whats is your velocity at 37.5gr?

try bumping up the neck tension to .003, see is that helps and then play with seating depth.

Interesting you mentioned neck tension. I tried a few with .001 tension and the ES was even worse. I rarely go more than .002 because my chamber type seater leaves a ring around the bullet with more than that. I will try a few and see what happens

you might need to either

a) change your seater's stem to match your bullet

b) adjust your inner chamfer to give you a better transition.

Also are you cleaning with a SS media and removing every bit of carbon from the neck? that will also cause harder seating sometime it can be inconsistent. Cleaner is not better when it comes to this

I do not clean anything but primer pockets and use a Wilson chamfer tool in a Wilson case trimmer. I also have both the standard seater stem and VLD stem both leave the same results

if it runs at 2800 fps and its consistent it might be a picky barrel but try the neck tension .003 and a .080 jump with 39 grs and see whats up.
