6XC Chamber Castings

Here is a picture of the chamber casting from an unfired Wilson replacement barrel and unfired Schnieder barrel that came on my Tubb Gun.

Larry,

Is the Wilson on left and Schneider on right? Are the chips/voids etc. on the right barrel just a flaw in the chamber cast or are they on the metal too, from what you can tell?

Who is Wilson??

The little pits on the r/h chamber may be casting flaws but the scoring on the shoulder certainly is not. That's a sure sign of a dull reamer, chips in the reamer flutes, a lousy job, or all three. Look also at the freebore. Does that shiney ring mean an oversize diameter?

So, who made the one on the right??

The Schneider 5P rifling is on Left and Wilson 6 grove is on the right in the first picture.

When it comes to air bubbles in casting, I am the KING. Nobody gets more bubbles then I do.

Here is a picture of Wilson before, right) and after 797 rounds fired, left).
Throat has eroded 95 thousandths.
