6XC Cases with which reamer

Tim Singleton

I was reading the other thread on which cases are best. I didn't want to derail that

My question is which small primer brass works best with xcII reamer

Is the 6xcII the best reamer design to go with?

Then is there a better brand brass to work with this reamer?

If I were you I would get the 6xc reamer. Can choose throat depending on what you plan on shooting. The Tubb reamer ( manson) has a.160 throat to handle the 115 dtacs. But you can shoot lighter bullets in it also. Imo the best all around reamer to get. Peterson & Norma for brass. You can only get srp Peterson direct from them at $$$ until Sept, but lrp is avail now from Tubb best price. You can also make your own brass out of quality 308 cases.

What freebore for 105 class bullets?
I'm using, the Tubb, Version ONE reamer, Norma Brass ( No turn'em, neck), Forster Dies with, .104 Free bore and, the 95, 105, 107 and 108 gr. Bullets all fit, perfectly with, Lots of, the Bullets, "Shank" portion, in the Neck.
Forster Dies, produce LESS than, .002 TIR, "run out" and My "Cheapy" Rem 700 / Criterion, RemAge Barrelled Rifle produces, One Hole, 5 shot group's, in the Low 2's to 3's with, the 107 SMK's.

I've got the short throat 6xcii reamer and have used peterson small primer brass. It works fine for NRA long range prone and for across the course. I also have a a criterion chambered in whatever 6xc reamer they use. I haven't noticed much difference. I've also used formed 22-250 cases and zero problems.
I have not used the tubb style reamer but I think that would be a good choice as well.
If things ever got scarce, I could possibly survive the apocalypse with 308 brass cut down. Whichever you choose, get the right stuff to go with it but I can't imagine the 6xcii gives a great advantage now that the 6xc brass issue has been ironed out.
