6XC bullet choice - 105gr berger hybrid or 107gr Sierra MK

Not everyone's favorite but I have really good luck with the Hornady 105's, especially out to 600 yds. The price is right too.

The 107's over H4350 shot so well in my rifle that it seemed stupid to spend the extra cash on the Bergers, although I hear great things about those as well.
107's are excellent bullets. They are more consistent (length especially) than Bergers, BUT if you are willing to sort the Bergers, I have found Bergers to be more accurate in my experience. Really comes down to what your gun likes.

I'm sure your barrel can shoot bugholes with both bullets with the right load. I worked up loads with the 105 berger Hybs and the 107smk. Even tho the 105's shot amazing, the 107's shot just a little better !

Bobcat,

Thanks for the info. Sounds like RL17 is a perfect match for the
6XC. Seriously considering building one.;)

Thanks, Paul

Paul, I revisited my 6.5x47L load development data and I was wrong about RL19. Forgot that I had already tried it and got 200fps less velocity. RL17 burn rate is much closer to RL15 than to RL19. My load is actually about 94% density. I did find a higher node at 99% but it was very hard on the brass.
Have you considered making 6XC brass from Lapua 22-250? It's probably as tough as 6.5x47L brass since they're both rated at 63,000+ psi.

Bob
