6x47L load data with Varget and Light bullets.

G'day, Just having a sako L579 rebarreled with a 1:10 twist 26" 6x47L barrel. I buy my Varget (ADI 2208 to me) by the 4kg as I use this in my 6.5x47L and 6mmBR target rifles. Looking to shoot lighter bullets say 65-87gr in my 6x47L when it comes back and want to use Varget.

Anyone got any load data for a 6x47L with light bullets and varget?

cheers in advance

G'day Chappo. How is your back?

L461/MISSED uses 2208/varget in his 10 twist 6x47 under 75VMaxes:
I have a 1-10 Maddco on my 6x47l and it spits out 75 grain V-Max at 3750fps using 39grns of AR 2208 (Varget) and BR4 primers this load is safe in my rifle and shows no pressure signs

I have been working with it and 87vmaxes in my 8 twist, but the accuracy was disappointing. Velocity was ok, but not as good as 2209/H4350. Just got some 88gr Bergers to try - will give varget and h4350 a go with them. No data to share yet.

Cheers, Jason.

Hi Chappo,

I have 6x47Lap with a 1in12 twist Lilja.
I run 67 grain Copperheads with 39 grains of 2208 (Varget).
Not sure of the actual speed but its above 3800 fps!
They hits hard, real hard and kills exceptionally well!

Why don't you try the 75's with 2208 Jason?
I would just use 2208 and skip the 2209 altogether! Even with your house bricks.
Have loaded 75's in a blokes 6BR with a 1in8 using 2208 and they work well.
Worth a try!

Glenn

Thanks Guys.

Jason, the back is coming along slowly. Hope to be back shooting by the end of the year.

Glenn, thanks for the PM.

Cheers

Chappo555,

This is a PM that was sent to me from one of your fellow countrymen,we were discussing the exact same thing.

G`day mate, you will love the 6x47L for Coyotes I have shot quiet a few Red foxes with the V-maxes with no exit even at 100m .My rifle has a 26" 1/10 barrel and I am using AR2208 (sold over there as Varget)
I am getting those velocities with a load of 39 grns fired up by Magtech 7 1/2 primers.I was running 39.6 this is with BR4 primers this was a bit quicker and had better accuracy but then I ran out of them and my local has only just got me in a box.
The V-max give good performance out to my personal best of a bipod off 550 m love it.

Hope this is of some help to you.......Get that back healed up.

Phil.

I have two 6 x 47L's, a rifle and a handgun.

I shoot the 108 berger in the 8" twist Rifle and the 75 V-max in the 15" bbl, 9 twist Lilja Remington XP-100R.

Both get 40.5 grains of H-4350. Both will give me 3/8" groups on those infrquent moments when I do my part right.

I love simplicity, no need for any but H4350 in my 6x47 shooting.
