Putting together a 6x47L with a 1x7.5 tw Krieger 30" 1.25 blank on a blueprinted Rem 700. Want to shoot Berger 115 and/or DTACS.
Question is the freebore recommendations of those with similar chamberings?

Can't help you on the freebore but I can still offer my sympathies in advance building a 6x47. ;D

Not sure about the sympathies; this will be my 2nd 6x47L. I really like the load and have several friends that win a lot of Regionals and State matches with that caliber. I just want to shoot the 115's vs the 105's. hence the inquiry about the freebore.

They either shoot great or shoot for crap, no in between. I wish you all the luck that I didn't have with mine. ;D

How about sharing your freebore so I don't get a crappy one like you had?

.148 freebore, .2735 neck, 1.5 degree lead. (24" Sendero 1-8 Hart). Best, Hog

Load a dummy round with that bullet and get a reamer made. Well worth the time.
Both my reamers are set up for 70- 105gr bullets. One of my favorite rounds and I've done quite a few.

My 6x47L shoots "in between".... 0.540" at 300 yrds. 😳 Not too bad for a light weight, non-blueprinted, walking varminter 700.

Mine is a .093 freebore and is set up perfect for the 105 VLD's. I would use a 135 as well if you are shooting the 115's.

Thanks for the replies/advice; my gunsmith a good friend is also building one on a Barnard action. He has won a number of Mid Range F Open matches in the lasst few years shooting the 105's. I know the BC is about the same with the 105 Berger Hybrid as the DTAC; just like the idea of the heavier bullet for occasional Long Range matches.
