6x47 RE16 115 DTAC

Well I've been away from the x47 land for awhile now while playing around with the 6 SLR and Dasher, but am back now most likely for good. Just had a new 26" Proof 1:7.6 M24 barrel spun up by my brother at R Bros Rifles and so far this thing is proving to be just like all the others I've ran over nearly the last 10yrs. Part of the reason I went away from the x47 was the inability to get h4350 and the cost of brass. Well, now we have several powders to choose from (4350, 4451, re16) and I've grown weary of inconsistent brass so here we are again. For the past several barrels I ran 40.5gr of H4350 with a 105 Hybrid with great success. It was crazy accurate/consistent and very predictable. This go-round I wanted to try something a little different so I went with the RE16 and DTAC combination as I have a bunch of them and RE16 is pretty available around here.

Testing......10/25/2017
All velocities via Magneto Speed chronograph. Charges weighed with A&D FX120i.
Old leftover ammo from previous 24" 6x47 used for "shooter warmup"
105 Hybrid, H4350, cci450
1 - 3113
2 - 3110
3 - 3113

115 DTAC (.020 jump), Reloder 16, cci450
For this test, I ran the two strings from 39.0-40.2 about 10 min apart while I zero'd my hunting rifle in it's new stock. The group for both strings were in the 1/2 moa range for both which was pleasantly surprising considering the powder/speed range and the 10x scope I have on this thing for now.
39.0 - 2979, 2995
39.2 - 2989, 2996
39.4 - 3019, 3024
39.6 - 3028, 3031
39.8 - 3035, 3049
40.0 - 3057, 3060
40.2 - 3065, 3065

Thanks for sharing your information. Did you see any pressure signs at 40.2gr and 3065 FPS?

No sir, but that's about all the more powder you can get in the case without a drop tube. It's just starting to get "crunchy". I've ran this speed before with about another 1/2 gr of 4350 and it's a lot easier to fit in the case.

Try the R16 with the hybrid.

I really don't have a desire to shoot the 105s out of this gun. If I can run DTACs in the 3050 range with good consistency, that's what I am going for. The 105s will be kept for my Dasher since I can't seem to get the RDFs to shoot out of it.

I shoot a 6x47L Imp. I shot lots of 110SMK's with RL16 and DTAC's with RL17 both right at 3080 fps. Both are great bullets and hang close to the 7mm's in the wind pretty well at those speeds.

Which improved version do you have? I have considered making one similar to what was done with the 6 BRA and doing a 40 degree shoulder while leaving the neck length the same.

I have a Lapua Dasher neck and shoulder on mine. The whole shoulder is blown forward a bit. It shoots great but it seems 110SMK's and DTAC's are both happy around 3080-3100 I think the Long Dasher, Ackley version might be the way to go.

Update....
Just shot the JC Steel PRS match this last weekend with the x47 and pulled a 2nd place finish. Easily could've had the win, but I was a little rusty. The rifle shot amazing though and considering I was running all virgin brass, I was extremely impressed. There were 2 rounds that I can't explain what happened, but they were definitely fliers. The rest were very predictable. This is my favorite combination so far.
