6x47 or 6br?????????

I am getting a new groundhog rifle built but would like your opinion. It will be a savage action,6mm 14tw shilen barrel, finish 20in. Now i was thinking 6x47lapua, as i have the dies and a bench rifle in that chamber, or do i get a 6br? I will be droping the action and barrel off on thursday so, what would you do? Thank you, Brad

I am having a 6x47 Lapua built as we speak. I wanted more velocity than the 6br for long range PDoging but I didn't want another 6AI because you have to fire form the brass. I was going to build a 6br when I descovered the 6x47L
The reasons I chose this cal are:
1) Larger case than the 6br so it should drive a 70 gr bullet at 3500-3600.
2) Many of the attributes the 6br has,Small primer, etc) so it should be very accurate.
3) Good brass available,Lapua 6.5x47)
4) Just neck the brass down to 6mm,one trip thru the size die)
5) Talked to several gunsmiths before lighting on one and they all told the same story. If you want a cart that will give near 6 AI velocity without fireforming and is more accurate go with the 6x47 L

6) longer barrel life than a 6AI or 6x284
Of course I won't know if all these come true until I get the rifle and shoot it but thats true of any gun/cartridge.

I say 6x47L the added vel will do you good when shooting groundhogs. Plus you already have the stuff. If you were shooting PD then the BR.
