6x47 Long Dasher light bullet load data

I was wondering if anyone has a starting point for a 6x47 Long dasher with a 14 twist. I would like to work with bullets between 55gr to max 70gr.

This isn't a topic that seems to get a lotta response. I believe it's because most seem to want to shoot the heavies and few have headed this direction with their projects. I know this cause I have a standard 6X47 with a 1 in 12 twist in a UPS truck coming home as I type this, coincidentally) and I asked similar questions and searched the archives with limited success. Someone mentioned to me here that going to Hodgdon's site and using the starting point listed for the 6MM-250 in their load data section, I intend to do just that using Varget and 65 grain V-Max's starting Tuesday according to the UPS tracker.:D
Sounds like yours should make a dandy varmint rifle! I opted for 1 in 12 specifically hoping the 75 grain V-Max will work well in it for it's great BC and stellar performance spreading rats. My goal is the 65 V-Max to 75 V-Max range.
Do you happen to know how much gain in capacity you get improving the 6X47 Lapua?
I'd be interested in following your progress as load development moves along for you.

Guys,

Give the 70gr Sierra Blitzking. I shoot them in my 6BR 12tw and 6BRX 14tw. at 3500 and 3700 F/S. Great on Va Groundhogs.
Also for great long range accuracy, search my name on this site) look at the 80gr Berger, and the 80 Fowler's if you can still get them. I have a few made by Jeff, hold on to them like gold. I have had all my 14 6BR shoot the 80 great, so the 6x47AI should shoot them fine.

Aequitas
You should be close to the 6XC, start out low and work up slow.

Mark, dittos on the case capacity. By my measurements, the std. 6x47L is within 2grs. of a Norma 6XC case - going with the long Dasher version of the 6x47 should get it very close to the XC.

I have been in the same boat - looking for lighter bullets, here is what I have found so far in my 6x47L with a Krieger 1-12 with small amount of free-bore.

Varget 38 to 39.5 gr with 70 grain Bergers were ok but not great
Reloder-17 @ 40 grains with 70 grain Berger's shot .3 to .4 in my gun

Best load so far is 38.0 grains of Reloder-17 pushing 80 grain Berger's this load shoots in low .2 - this is a trued 700 so I am not sure it is capable of much more.

Thanks 6ppc. Good info.
Mine is also a Remington but,you aren't going to believe this, mine is an old 788.) I too am using a 1 in 12 Kreiger. I had a great smith in Colo. single point the action, pillar bed it, double sleeve and bush the bolt etc etc. I went with minimal free-bore and a .270 neck. On a $100.00 when new rifle no less.
I went with a #4 contour 26 inch barrel and it should make one fine carry gun for coyotes, chucks and such. Makes no sense whatsoever but I've had fantastic luck with all the 788's I've ever messed with due to their fast lock time so I decided to throw the kitchen sink at one once and see what happens, besides I had to do something with that old action I had collecting dust. It's an old enough 788,made in 1968 Remington said) that when I refinished the stock I found a half decent piece of Walnut under all that varnish, they didn't use Walnut long on 788's).
I intend to start with Varget as well but I have a good amount of N540 around and I'm going to take a run at that with the 65 and 75 grain V-Max's. If this little beastie will agg in the .4's using V-Max's I'd be tickled pink!!
I'd sure be interested in how your load development progresses.
Have you chrono'd anything yet?

I've never tried Varget in any of my 6x47s, but am shooting mostly 105-115s for LR prone comps in them. I do shoot one 6x47 in our club's BR Varmint Silhouette matches, and load N150 with 87s with good results. It's just enough faster than N160,which is what I normally use with the heavier bullets) to give good velocity & accuracy without leaving any excess fouling with bullets as light as 65grs. Actually, N150 is only a little slower than Varget, but last time I checked, Powder Valley still had it in stock.

I use N540 in a .20 Dasher with 40 grain V-Max's at hyper speed. I ordered some before all the insanity hit then had a senior moment and ordered it again, got 'lot's of it'.
As my intent is 65 to 75 grain projectiles I'm hoping it might work. The burn rate chart I looked at,you know burn rate charts), has it slower than Varget and a bit faster than N150. With the lighter bullets it just might be ok. Hope so. Last thing I want to do right now is fall in love with a new powder.
