6x47 lapua

How hard is it to make this brass, just run the 6.5 brass though the re size die and thats it? Can a 6x47L be recambered to a 6xc? Which is easyer to load for and get to shoot the 6x47L or the 6xc? How fast will a 6x47L shoot a 95gr. bullet?(26 inch barrel) Will a 1 in 9 twist work with a 95gr bullet ? Thanks Jon

If you want to stick with the 95's in a 26 inch barrel I would think about a 6mm BR. Your 9 twist is perfect for the 95's

Yep. Just run it thru but lube it first. Don't know about re-chamberiing but it is very easy to load for and shoot accurately. 95 gr. should get in the 3100 to 3200 range safely. the 1-9 twist will work well with the 95 gr. but if you want to shoot the heavier bullets the 1-8 will be best. Bill

Some answers to your questions:

You can make a 6 x 47 Lapua by using a 6XC reamer and holding it short about .048". That's how my first one was made and I used a 6XC sizing die that had the bottom ground off and shortened by .050". If you do that, you will later have no problem re-chambering it to 6XC.

For making brass, it's a simple neck down, run 6.5 x 47 Lapua cases through the re-size die (after lubing the cases and necks of course) and you are done.

Both the 6XC and the 6 x 47 Lapua are easy to load for, you can use 6XC loads in the 6 x 47 Lapua, just drop them by about 1 gr.

I am looking at buying a used rifle in the 6 x 47L that has a 1 in 9 twist. when I looked at the drawings it looked like the 6xc was just a little longer other than that the same, I just want to confirm it. If it is no biggy to form the 6 x 47L brass, it is not a issue, the reason I ask about the 6XC was that I could buy ready made brass. I just do not want to deal with neck turning, donuts, fire forming, reaming, ect. I want to spend more time shooting, then loading. Is the 6x47L vs the 6XC just like coke vs pepsi ? which came 1st, why do one vs the other if you were just starting out? Jon

Resizing the 6.5 x47 Lapua brass, to 6 x 47, is sufficiently simple that a child could do it.

No catches, not hidden wrinkles, just lube the brass, stuff it in the Forster die and pull the handle. It could n't be easier.
