6X47 Lapua

Hi all I have just recieved 100 cases from Lapua in Finland as they promised i sent some cases back to have them analised and they said when they had cases available in 6.5X47 they would send me some they also sent ma a back pack free this is awsome service from a company that realy supports us with great Quality cases.

We have had a reamer for 2 weeks from David Kiff at pacific as soon as i recieved the cases out to the shed and i necked them down to 6mm in my BR die and seated some 107 Sierra's. the loaded neck diameter measured .271 with digital verniers so dont hold me to .5 of a thou the reamer we have has a 274 neck so it will be perfect for a no turn neck. The barrel is here aswell with one of our tuners on it 30" long and 1" at the muzzle with 5" on knox. It is a hand lapped MAB Raptor through Grenfell Armouring here in Bendigo we will not be able to fit it for a few weeks as My friend is going to a shoot interstate for a few weeks t,the owner of the rifle and gunsmith) but as soon as he is back we will have it fitted and i will take a few photo's and send them in so you can see the finished product. The rifle is a millinium as he is a full bore shooter first. He is having a Mastin F Class low front stock made at this moment with a flexi bed bedding system fitted and he has a 32X nightforce scope it should be a tack driver.

What Tikka action are you going to put it into and what calibre is it in now if it is a 308/243 Mag it will work no worries.

WB,
595 308 boltface.
Currently a 22/250 so the magazine might be a little short.
308 length mags shouldn't be to hard to find.

I even have a spare barrel if you could do the reameing job for me- hint hint - beg beg.

Custers are now selling direct at holesale so the prices have just dropped a lot. They have told me in July so if that is true 1.5 months max. The 22-250 mag will work with short seated ammo i would get a 308 length mag and you will be good to go they work flawlesly through any 308 mag when loaded out to match lenght the boat tail above the doghnut.

Thanks WB. Just when I had settled on the number of 6.5's I have you go along an offer me another option.

How do you think the 123's, and smaller) would go in a 1:9 twist??
I have on on hand waiting or a project??

I wonder when custers changed their mind about selling to retail??

Last year and even a few month ago it was "no only to retailers and clubs" and now there is add's in the ASJ.

hows the tests with the 6.5 twist going??

thnaks ChrisJ- will let you know

What about varmint loads in this chambering? Its right between the 6br and 243 winchester.

Seems like you could get 4000fps with 55grains bullets, and 3500fps with 75grain V-max.

Thats a god reason to neck it down! You get a high efficency,sp) round, that can be loaded from a magazine.

Or keep it as a 6.5 and shoot 95 grain V-max with a bc of .360.. not sure what velocities one might get?

I think it will be a heck of a varmint cartridge necked down. With a 99% full case of RL15, QuickLOAD is predicting 3750 fps with the case necked down to 6mm, shooting the 75 V-max at 2.450" OAL. 28" bbl.

Moderator,
What does your Quick Load program say about it necked up to 30 cal and using 155gr projectiles does it predict 3000fps or maybe even better?
