6x47 Lapua with 4451

Having a difficult time finding a consistent load for my 6x47 Lapua using 105 hybrids and IMR 4451.

I have tested loads from 38.2-39.3 with no success. I will up the charge weight a hair, but feel I am beginning to push the edge of pressure. Right now I am jumping my hybrids about .010" but don't want to seat much deeper in the case because I am already at the shoulder neck junction with the beginning of bullet bearing surface.

My barrel is 26" long with a suppressor on the end of it. Velocities with 39.3gr are averaging 3075 fps with an ES of 35 and SD of 14.6 on average. I am looking to tighten things up to an SD no larger than 8 and ES no larger than 20fps. Having a very difficult time here with most charges producing SD's between 20-35. My last 6.5x47 barrel before being shot out averaged SD's about 4-6 over the course of its life using Varget.

Powders I have access to are
4831SC (not giving the SD or velocities I am looking for 3000+)
Varget ( A bit faster burning than I prefer)
4451 (The only substitute I can find for H4350)

What loads are you guys using with this powder bullet combo? Trying to gather all the data I can while loading for this very picky cartridge. (In my experience)

I am working with a new barrel on my 6x47. 39.5 grs. of 4451 is working real well with cci 450 primer and 107 SMK and 105 barts bullets. I am able to go to 40.5 grs. of 4451 with no pressure in my barrel but accuracy starts falling off. 39.5 to 40 grs. shoot well.

I'm hoping to be loading some up next week, I'll let you know what I find out.
I'm hoping the 4451 will work as I have plenty of it.

Mine began to have tighter SD's around 39.4gr. I'm not sure if I should try 39.4, .5, .7 or just continue on in .2 increments to 39.8. Just need to find something fast or I will be missing yet another match. Missed 3 so far with this seemingly picky barrel.

In my 26" Brux, H4350 39.5 is 3032 fps in the hear of the node, but I ran quickload 123 button and found 42.3 of H4831SC is 3060 fps. H4350 is slightly smaller group at 100 but SDs and ES are about the same at distance. The h4831sc still gives me .25 moa. 2k psi less according to QL also.

I have a savage I built and a Remington a friend built for me. Both are shooting 39.3 gr 4451 @ +/- 3050 fps with very tight chrono numbers.

I had to go down to .1 increments on the powder to hone in on the node. The sweet spot of the node is not very wide. I had to bush the firing pin on the Remington to get that high without cratering or blanking primers. I'm using 105 AMAX's and CCI 450 primers

I would say you're very close.

In my 6x47 8 twist Krieger 30" long...

Berger 105 Hybrid (.645 BTO, 1.250 Length)
Cartridge 2.668 COL, 2.055 BTO, which is .010 jump in my gun

H4350 over CCI 450 primers gives...

38.8 gave me 3051fps with 1/2+ MOA
40.6 gave me 3220fps with 1/2+ MOA

Sweet spot for me is 39.8 game me @3175fps game me 1/4 MOA twice in a row...
(3176,3170,3182,3176,3176,3172,3170,3177,3173,3176)
(very low ES/SD)

I stopped at that point... :) at 3175 fps every shot out of the rifle will be precious.

I only shoot 5 shot groups...

Try your loads with the bullet in the lands. Back offf some on the powder charge first though. Obviously. With the 6x47 always stay way from the neck shoulder junction. Also have you tried neck turning? When necking this stuff down it tend to creat doughnuts according to some.
