6x47 lapua load questions

Well I just updated my long range gun with a shilen ratchet twist 8 twist barrel. I had the barrel chambered in 6x47 lapua, and its length is 28 in. The barrel is a #7 contour, and dang I am close on weight., right on the edge of 17 lbs)

What loads are you guys using? No one has data out yet, and thought about going off of 6mm international data. The brass I am using is Lapua. I have a ton of sierra 107 mk, and 95 gr mks. On powder I have a few lbs of imr 4350, I also have varget, 4895, bechmark, h332, h380, etc. What primers do you guys prefer, I was told that the cci 450 mag primer was the best for this case, I also have rem 7 1/2's and cci br4's.

So what are your guys thoughts, on the rig, what bullets, powder, primers do you like, and last what data do you have. Thank you for the help.

I also thought about trying some light bullets, like 68 gr council, or fowlers, what data do you have for them?

82boy, My 6 X 47 Shehane rifle likes the Berger 105 VLD grain bullets on top of 41.0 grains of VV-N560 seated .010 into the lands. My barrel is a Krieger 1 - 8 twist 28" long and my best group so far at 500 yds. is .991. It will shoot 5 into one ragged hole at 100 yds. that will measure less than .250 when I do my part. I have done no further load testing at this time. Bill

Have used Varget 36 grns & H4350 39.5 grns with great sucess at 500 yards and 1000yd Benchrest. Both loads under 105 scenars in a Stolle Panda with 28 inch 1:8 twist Lilja on a soft jam.
I am about to do some trials with H4831, I have used 205 primers up to now without issue but will go to 450's for the H4831.

Still kind of early in the load testing stage here... finished fire-forming the first batch of cases. Worked up to 39.5gr H4350 behind a Berger 105gr VLD, lit by a Rem 7-1/2 primer. Accuracy seems to be far tighter than I can hold, although I'm a little handicapped here, more so than usual) in that this is a field rifle - 3.5-15x scope, AICS stock, fired from a bipod. Avg MV for 10 shots was ~3080fps, so this should be one flat-shooting load!

It'll be interesting to see how much, if any, I have to adjust the load now that the brass is fire-formed - the shoulder expands a bit more than I was expecting.

I have been shooting 39gr of H4350 with the 107smk and the 95smk, and a CCI450 primer, seated to touch the lands.

82boy, Savage RBLP target action with 27" Douglas 1-8 done up by Fred at SSS. Really likes the 105 Berger VLD's just touching the lands. Lapua brass, CCI BR primers, 39.5 grains of RL17 worked best. 3050-3100fps. has been the magic speed for me with either H4350 or RL17. 107gr. SMK's were good also but the Bergers got the edge in this setup. TB

82boy,
Mine is a Bat,Krieger 28" 1-10tw,mcmillan,Jewel trigger,12-42x56 NSX, built by Dave Bruno in PA. Light bullet is a 70 gr Bart over 40gr varget for3600fps shoots in the .2's Best load is 88 berger over 41 gr n-550 with federal primers. Shoots in the .2's at 275 yds.

Love this gun/caliber, it has the performance of a 6mmAI with the accuracy of the 6br!

Billmo must have stolen my gun and I don't know about it yet....

I found mine finicky and very picky about powder. N560 was the magic bullet. 39.5 with a CCI 450 under a Berger 105 jammed 15 thou in beyond first land contact. Krieger 17 contour 1:8 yadda yadda

Here's a pic of mine and some of the results...

Hea Man, I was able to get it back in your house before you knew it was gone. I only shot it about 25 times and cleaned the bore really well. That thing will shoot now. Bill

I am using 105 Bergers and 36.5 gr of H4350. I started around 40 gr's as this is what came w/ the used rifle. I was blowing primers and damaged my Jewell trigger until I got much lower powder, around 37 gr). Not sure on the barrel make...assume it is a Rock or Bartlein as it was built by GA Precision. I am very impressed w/ this cartridge but don't have data on velocity yet.
