6x47 Lapua imr 4451

Nothing great from 36 up to 38.8 then nice group @ 39.2 (.180) opened up a little at 39.6 and blanked a primer on the fourth round at that weight. NO other pressure signs and I'm pretty sure it's my firing pin/bolt head tolerance but didn't go higher for obvious reasons.

37.2 measured .853

Shooting 105 AMAX's +.010 and CCI 450 primers at 215 yards

Repeated the 37 & 39 loads this evening with simular results. 39.2 really stood out but I'm a little concerned I may be getting up there!

I'm running the newer 107 Sierra's with it and Russian primers. My load is significantly higher using a bore rider throat and I'm getting 3145 with excellent (.30 moa) accuracy for 10-15 shot groups at 300 yds. Gun is Savage PTA w/ 28" Kreiger 4 groove, bore rider throat, Lapua brass and Wolf SRM primers.

Here's 37.6 @-.024 this is at 215 yards. I'm going to fine tune the powder and re shoot @ that depth and try out past-.040

There was a decent node @ .009 and.012 but not as good as this one. The seating nodes seem to get better further off the lands.

on a 25" bartlien barrel i ran amax with 4451 from 38.4 to 40gr jammed. nothing as accurate as my berger load with h4350.
the 40gr was the tightest group that showed promise, pressure getting up there.
i may go back and start lower and work back up with a jump like youre doing.
i just bought an 8lb jug of this 4451, id like an amax load with it for coyotes.
65creed what action are you running?

Rem 700, 26" Broughton sporter contour and at 39+ it definitely was up there.

its worth $85 and a weeks wait to have the firing pin bushed for these high pressure cases.

Bringing this back from the dead, the Remington with the Broughton barrel never did get consistent/repeatable so I bought a 26" Shilen Select Match varmint contour savage prefit from NSS and put it on a savage model 10 action and a Choate tactical stock.

With 50 rounds down the tube there's a pretty decent node @ 38.3 imr 4451 and a 105 amax .005 off the lands. avg fps of 2950

I think I'm going to try to get to the next node and get into the 3000 fps range.

39 grains gets me into 3000 fps, 39.3 was 3001 fps with single digit ES & SD yesterday afternoon. 39.2 was a few fps faster but I ran a patch down the barrel between the two groups so I'm guessing that made a difference in the progression and the 39.3 group would have been a little faster if I hadn't patched it between groups. There appeared to be a little debris, maybe powder residue laying in the bottom of the bore.

Shot the 39.3 load again and did a seating depth test. Shot pretty well in the savage. This is where the remington was wanting to shoot too but the primers were cratering. I'm sending the bolt off next week to get it bushed and give it another go, it's lighter than the savage and would be nicer for walking.

I'm going to run another 50 or so through the savage and see if the fps picks up and maybe try the next higher node.

Best advise in this thread!

Gre' Tan Rifles bushed my bolt head in less than 2 weeks turnaround to my door! Shoots the 39.3 load easily now.
