6x47 lapua improved or long dasher

does any one on this site shoot a long dasher i am getting one built and will take any info i can. setup 7.5 twist barrel .269 neck 29 to 30 inch barrel hope to use it in f- class 600 & 1000yds

I shot mine today at 600 yards. 1st time to shoot F-Class for me. I have shot highpower for years, but today was the first time with a rest and scope combination. I was shooting 107 SMK seated into the lands with 32 gr of Varget using BR4 and Wolf primers. Primer choice seemed to make no difference. Shooting the F-Class target, I shot 195x5 and 195x6. All of the 9's were leakers, just off the 10 ring. This load was safe in my rifle so if you choose to use it, back it down a couple of grains and work up. My barrel twist is 1x8.

A dasher already has a short neck and 40 degree sholder. Not sure how you could make one any longer.

I'm guessing that's a nickname for a 6-6.5x47 Improved... Which is pretty close dimensionally to a Dasher that had it's body (hypothetically) lengthened even more (hence the name, I guess).

Yes, a 6X47 Lapua with a 40 degree shoulder.

I cannot speak for the improved version, but I have tried building a coupld of the 6x47L's and will never do it again. Very difficult to make work consistently.

I went 6XC and would never look at the 6X47 again.

What is a Long Dasher ?
I have two .22 Long Dashers and two 6mm Long Dashers, So hopefully I can shed a little light on the Question.

On 5/08 I called Dave Kiff of Pacific Tool and asked him if he would make me a couple of reamers that I would
have called a .22 and a 6mm x 47 Lapua Improved. ( AI ). It has been a little over three years since our
conversation so I may be a little hazy on some points.

Dave explained to me to me that he had quite a few requests for the 6mm Lapua AI. His problem, was that
each person requesting said cartridge wanted different dimensions. With most requesting a long neck,
as compared to the Dasher or even the Win..243.

He told me what he decided to do was simply go to the datum line on the 6 x 47 Lapua and rotate it from
30º to 40º. He then added. .005" to the width of the shoulder to bring it up to .460" to match the dasher. This in effect
lengthened the shoulder by about .050" and increased the neck length about .035". He named his new
Cartridge a " 6mm Long Dasher. " I believe the same holds true for the 6.5mm and the .22 x 47 Lapua. The
prints show simular dimensions as the 6mm.

My fired cases measure 1 to 1.6 grains of added h2o capacity.
I shoot the 6mm's at 3050 fps. with 105's and the .22's at 3330 with 80 grn. bullets I have to load .22's down to 3330, otherwise on a hot day any thing above 3400 fps. here in so. ca. the bullets will blowup. ( 1 in 8" )

A few month's back I was able to win a 600 yrd. registered NBRSA match shooting my 16# .22 long Dasher in
light gun with the three groups a 1.670", 2.673", and a 2.308".
My choice of powder for the .22 is #1 Re-17 #2 H-4350 and #3 Re-22
for the 6mm is the choice is #1 H-4350 #2 Re-17.
I do shoot my .22's at 1000 yds. also.

Sorry to resurrect a old thread but I believe the load he gave you is for a Standard Dasher. Not a Long Dasher that is based on the 6x47. Varget is way to fast for a cue this size and 32gr would leave more then 30% of the case empty and almost dangerous idea.

Start with Something like Vt 160 or H4350 and probably in the 40gr area for a Long Dasher.
