6X47 L for Hunting Medium Game

I'm in the process of putting together a 6X47 L for hunting Deer and I was wondering if any of you guys have used this cartridge for that application and if so, what bullets you may have tried. My Pac-Nor barrel will be a # 4, 10" twist, SSSM in a McMillian Mountain Rifle Stock with a Jewell trigger, etc. I'm getting ready to have the reamer made and I want to send a dummy cartridge to have the Throat set up like I want it....Any help would be appreciated>>>.George

I got 2 whitetails this year with mine. I used a 95gr nos par over 39gr of h4350. Both deer only went 20-30yds.

My gunsmith friend hunts deer with 6.5x47 lapua necked down to 22, exclusively with 75gr hornady Amaxes. His gun is rem. 700 based 26" medium sporter, 1 in 8" Lilja 3 groove bbl on a killer bird eye maple stock. We hunted together this season; That dropped a buck on its tracks in 580 yards,documented with rangefinder). Now I want to have one for myself too. Interestingly that 75gr bullet produced same havoc as my 280 rem which I shot at close range the same day. I don't know how a projectile this small could create such a mess at such a distance.

Between my 14 year old son and myself, we killed two buck antelope, one doe antelope,and a muley buck this fall with the 6x47L.
H-4350 and 105 Berger VLD's=All one shot kills.

Facts are that the 6x47L will easily push a 90 gr bullet to 3400 fps which is 965flb of energy at 500yds! And that is more than a 243 at 3100fps or a 6mm AI at 3300fps. So if you think either of these cartriges are good for medium game,I do ) then the 6x47 is even better. Another advantage you have an inherently accurate cartrige without fireforming just neck the 6.5x47 to 6mm.

Has anyone tried the Berger 80 Gr. flatbase or the Berger 90 Gr. BT on Deer in either the 6mmBR or the 6X47L ???????
