6×45 twist

On my savage i chose a Black hole barrel, 9 twist.
I shoot sierra 85's for deer and the 70 gr blitzkings for everything else.
Heavier bullets take up alot of powder space as you can only seat them out so far.
And in a savage getting them to feed has known problems.

Well i ordered a barrel today. Went with a wilson 9 twist. I dont plan on shooting anything ober 80gr. Was going to go prefit but decided to just have my gunsmith chamber it up instead.

I've built 7 6x45s, 3 on savage actions, 4 in ar15 form, all with 1/9" tw bbls.
They shoot everything from 55g to 90g very accurately.

Just got it back from gunsmiths tonight. Im happy with it so far, just need to shoot it now. I wanted a wood stock for this one. Plan but i like it that way.

I did a walk on the wild side, 6-204 Ruger, 12T Krieger. 70g tnt at 3500+ is real world...something to think about. I simply modifed Redding FL and Bushing neck sizers and a Forster 204 bullet seater, Winchester brass is all I have used.

Also, the 6-223 AI would be close to my velocities in the 6-204.

Chamber cut with 22/204, then neck reamed with piloted neck reamer, then unithroater for a tad bit of freebore.. 55's are doing 3700 same as the 22/204 with 8208.

I like twist appropriate for the bullets I am going to shoot, and mainly used BR take off barrels, re purposed.
Locate the new throat at the same dia as the muzzle dia, the barrel has to shoot!

While almost everyone speaks of twist rate first, BUT the amount of freebore is of critical importance. Those 80g need some throat.
