Has anyone built a 6mmx6.5prc yet if so have you loaded any 55bt or 58 vmax? Thinking a bout getting a reamer and a 13t barrel for the build

Sounds 4k+ fast. The first person that comes to mind is Kevin Weaver down in Colorado a little past the springs. He used to buy the reamer if you used his services. He has quite a comprehensive list of reamers and builds rifles for RMEF. Great rifle builder and very nice to talk with.

I've built two of them, both with quick twists though, & throated appropriately for the bigger bullets.

3400 with 105's were no problem.

Ultimately sold both & the reamer to stick with my 6x47 Lapuas.

The 6-6.5PRC and 6-284 are pretty much ballistic twins. You never want to use load data from one directly to another but they are very close to one another and with the 6-284 having been around for so long you should be able to find info on folks shooting those light bullets in their 6-284's and that'll give you a real close idea of what a 6-6.5PRC would be like.

My 6-284 is one of my favorite rifles and I had it built with a 12tw barrel to shoot the lighter mid weight 24 caliber bullets. I use H4350 w/75gr Vmax and it is brutal on coyotes.

What bullet we choose to use is a personal choice so pick whatever makes you smile but I'd take a strong look at the Nosler 70gr BT also. I shoot those 70gr BT's in my 9tw 6 Creedmoor and they shoot amazingly well.

Also, I don't know that I would go quite that slow of a twist because you may at some point get a hankering to try something heavier and a 13tw would pretty much have you locked in to the really light ones. If I were to do all over again I would use at least a 10tw.

Thanks for the info guys I was debating on the 6x284 also. I shoot them 70 gr noslers in a 6223 they work well on prarie dogs.
Alf what was the reason to go back to the 6x47?

Built a .25 PRC and I've been happy with it. Been using the 120 grain Speer on hogs and it's a killer, either boiler room or shoulder.

Just started playing with a 6prc a few weeks ago, but is a fast twist and with k.h. 103 bullets and some v.v. is shooting 2" -3" groups at 600y at a comfortable 3500fps each time i hit 3550 it shows some ejector marks.
wheeler accuracy has a good reamer for the heavies. This can double as smooth deer or antelope rifle.
I started with 105 hybrids but it seamed to like the 103s better so did the velocity.
