6PPC to turn or not to turn?

My barrels are all .262, so I had no choice but to neck turn, but I'm considering having the necks reamed larger. I'm still going to skim them so there's not going to be an actual "no turn" for me, but hogging all that brass off in 2 steps and making them so thin that they get ruined if you look at them crosseyed is something I'm ready to get away from.
Mine were .268, I am now going to no turn, I will skim cut them but that is all, I purchased a reamer to my specs from PTG. It's called the "Crum Special" LOL .274

These are actual measurements and anything below .276" is a little tight for me for true no-turn, now if you want to clean up necks, then a .274" might be about right.

That is strange.
With my bullet, the cases I am using, bought a few months ago, measure an average .272.
The base of my bullet is .2433.

I threw the box away that brass came in but they had to be close to 10 years old. Probably some of the earliest blue box brass as the previous brass I used for .262" neck was gold box.

I have some new Lapua 220 Russian, I'll expand them and seat an Avenger and a Hillbilly and give you some measurements tomorrow just to see what I get.

I should have never counted on neck wall thickness being the same from batch to batch. It has never been for me, and has gotten progressively worse over time. I’m talking spreads of several thousandths in some cartridges.

Lapua 6BR in the blue boxes hasn’t been far off of 268 loaded (I’ll give them that one) but I’d not chamber or have anyone chamber a no turn without my brass in hand these days.

Well the ways these look my .274 neck should work perfectly, when I get one chambered I'll do some rounds with no skim and see how they turn out! I purchased 10 boxes of Lapua 220 Russian of the same lot number.

Hard to disagree but the 6BR change was what now...15 years ago or close. Now it appears we have just the opposite with new 220R brass. Still, if given the choice, Lapua is head and shoulders above 2nd best, overall. Maybe if you're loading fairly mild, there are other good choices but I've not found it for myself yet. Does it suck...yep. But I think they'll get it sorted out. Hopefully, Lapua isn't owned by Russia by then because we'll have a lot more important things to worry about before that happens, here as well. I bought 1000 pieces of the new Lapua 220R and I'm glad to have it. I'd rather not, but I can skim cut them or open the chamber neck before I waste money on brass that doesn't hold up like Lapua. Barrels don't last forever. This too shall pass.
