6ppc to 6br re-chamber ?

So thinking a bit as i move foward on my gunsmithing , whats your thoughts on a rechamber from 6ppc to 6br ? I already have about 1500 match bullets from 95 - 107 gr, got about 35# of Varget and a 1k of BR primers. I have a donor R700 short action that i can use and really nice bedded Bell and Carlson Tac 5 stock . Might make a great 600 yd recreational shooter ? A question for the experts, typically how much of the pervious burned up throat rifling length do you need to remove ? Im getting the feedback that in certain circumstances a rechamber is just not doable.

How crusty is the 6ppc barrel?
It’s a fairly mild cartridge so if it’s not a ragged wasteland a minor amount to clean up
I certainly wouldn’t setback and of my magnums.

I have not recieved the used barrels yet so i cant get you guys and info yet. Once i have them ill inspect the throats with my borescope and ill get the twist rate.

unlikely a 6ppc bbl will have the twist for long heavy bullets

Usually isn’t a need for more torque or bullet weight for 100 or 200 yd benchrest

Twist will be the deciding factor in using up your heavy bullets. BR 6 PPC rifles are typically 13.5-14 twist, being chambered for bullets in the 60's weights. While the rechambering is fairly simple, barrels with these twists will normally stabilize a 70 gr. flat base at the most. Normally 8 twist is required for the bullets you mentioned.

Yea, after some expert help here on the forum im quickly realizing that the short answer is "probably not". I totally get the mandatory barrel twist requirement that you guys are describing. All my 6mm bullet inventory was purchased for my single shot custom TC Encore 15" pistol in 243 Rem. With a fast 7" twist barrel

Ditto on the twist problem.

But through the years, I have rechambered quite a few of my take off 6PPC Barrels to 6 BR. Since the throat is a little further out, (1.560 oAl), it will clean the throat a little.

Since most were threaded for my Farley LV, they would screw right into a Remington. I just had to machine the shoulder back for a recoil lug if needed.

I still have an old (1999-2000 time-frame) Hart that I bought from Jackie while I was in Korea. It's somewhere north of 3500 rounds and still shoots great.
I experienced the same thing Jackie did with it. It's not a Hummer, but it never seems to shoot over 3/8".

Rechambering is a great way to make a fantastic varmint getter.
