Hello I just picked up this 6ppc, I’m not familiar with the PPC and looking to have it re chambered or re-barreled. I’m just not wanting to mess with the 220 Russian brass process. Rifle says RW Hart 119 on the action. Barrel says Spencer’s Custom Guns 6mm-PPC .262 NK any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

You could bumped it up to the 6BR or a variant of it with a re-chamber. It probably has a slower twist for the lighter bullets and that could be an issue if you wanted to shoot the heavier class bullets. In order to get exactly what you want a re-barrel may be in order.

If you have or get to a bore scope check it out. It has a great pedigree. Lots of folks here can help you with brass. By chance did you get dies for 6PPC? Also check the bolt face to see if handle a BR case head. Good luck

No dies or round count.

The case head diameter of a 6BR is 0.471 inches. I can not advise whether the bolt for a 6PPC can be modified for a 6BR.

You can get the Norma 22 PPC brass. Necked up a loaded round measures .265. If you get a new barrel with a .268 neck, you don't even have to turn brass for it. Just neck it up and fireform it. Doesn't get any easier than that.

Yep, same numbers I came up with on the Norma brass.

Who is the guy on AS that does brass? DSS or something? My brain has holes in it and I can't pull it up. He could make brass and all the OP would need is a decent set of used dies which I am sure can be found here with a want ad.

Even easier, have it rechambered to a 6ppc USA. Brunos has Norma 6ppc USA brass, and Redding has 6ppc USA dies.

If you have never had a 6ppc, the USA chamber is an excellent way to enjoy one of the easiest most accurate cartridges I've ever loaded for. And gives up little to nothing to the custom tight neck chambers.

And yes the bolt can be altered to use it on both 6ppc as well as 6BR, but it comes at more cost.

As another mentioned - I'd just get some brass dialed in for you by one of the guys like CJ's., then shoot the gun and see how you like it. That is a good rifle build by a good smith. If you don't have much in the rifle, re-barreling to a chamber that will accept no-turn brass is a good way to go - but far more expensive. And getting a smith of the caliber of the one who built your rifle will put you on a long wait list. On the other hand, turning necks is really quite easy. Might mess up a few till you get the cutter dialed in - but only takes less than an hour to do 100 pieces that will last you a LONG time. Once you do it - you will want to do it on other brass for different calibers if you have them. In short, I just get CJ to send you the brass. Very well worth it for someone not wanting to turn.
