I have a scoville stocks and a Sinclair front rest and mini gator rear bag with the Edgewood spacer. The problem is the front rest at its lowest point is still not low enough on a level 100 yard range. Time for a Farley from rest?

I did try a taller bag and same issues little better and still had to run a spacer. The problem is one of the range I will be shooting is down hill.

Before you go out and buy a new Farley rest, research the minimum height adjustment for both your Sinclair and a new Farley. Does a Farley adjust lower than your Sinclair? If it doesn't, you can stop right there and not buy the Farley. If the Farley does indeed adjust lower than the Sinclair, then by how much? Translate that difference into how much spacer height you need under your rear bag...and try that to see if you can now get as low as you need. Is it enough?? and IF it is, is it worth another rear rest?

FWIW, when I shoot short range BR, I use a low- forearm- height stock similar to yours. If the 100 yd. target is downhill I always have to use a spacer... like was recommended to you ( I use a NEO). Maybe there is an answer to your complaint (and please tell me) or maybe a rear spacer is a fact of life for your stock and downhill targets.

I have a similar issue. One observation that relates, my early Hoehn windage top bag is considerably thinner than a standard bag, which puts the forend significantly lower than his later design that uses a standard bag.

My base is an old Hart. I was right on the edge of a problem with my stock and the range being slightly downhill. A good friend had a friend with a production machine shop. As a favor, my rest was machined off flat on the bottom, flush with the center hub. It is a great modification.

On the rear bag spacer thing, for Edgewood bags, his version of the Otto ring is pretty thick and unlike many spacers is an improvement over the bag alone.

As the other poster mentioned, check the height of rests from the surface that a bag would rest on to the bench top. I like to use 5" as a maximum minimum. Then you still have to deal with front bag thickness.

Call Protector....They will make you the size spacer you need and it will be the dimensions of your rear bag. I have 2 and the quality is A+.

My scoville stock rides on a jj rest. I don't know if this rest sits lower than your Sinclair rest but what I have is a spacer on the rear rest plus I also have a taller bag also from Edgewood in case I need to shoot on range that has a lot of downhill. It would be cheaper to buy Taller rear bag instead of buying a Farley rest I also own a Farley and they are very nice rests.

I have the same problem with my terry Leonard stock . Sinclair will not go low enough. But my neo will . Some time I like to test off my Sinclair rest .

When I returned to BR rifles in 2012, I bought a JJ and a SEB original rest. They both worked fine with the older style stocks but when I had Hall/Leonard and BAT/Scoville rifles built, I could not get on paper at 100 yards at my home range. I tried different methods to "build up" the rear bag but all seemed unstable. I sold my other rests and bought a SEB Neo which did get me on, barely, at 100 yards. I'm using an Edgewood tall rear bag with spacer. 200 and 300 are no problem but, just as your club, our 100 is downhill.
