6PPC annealeez

Has anyone that owns an “annealeez” had any issues setting it up for 6PPC cases? I’ve used it now for a year on .308 cases with no issues. I am struggling getting it setup for the small PPC cases without overheating the wheels. I could use some advice if anyone has overcome this challenge.

thanks

I did that the best I could but the hose is not making it easy and the flame seems to near the flame.

I found that if the flame is too high that can end up heating the wheels, regardless of how well the point is oriented. Try turning it down until the shape pencil tip is just off the neck mouth.

another thread said they coated the lower wheel front with high temp red rtv sealant and that solved all their issues. apparently that rubber like coating on the bottom wheel is just a rtv material brushed on

Adjusted again tonight and replaced grip tape with electrical tape. I can live with it but far from satisfied as I was with the .308 casings. Left message with Annealeez yesterday but no response from them yet….

I had a melting issue with br cases and the “small wheels@ that frustrated me to no end but once i got it figured out i can do 500 in a sitting with no melting. there is a fine line between melting and good to go indefinitely, i feel your pain if you’re on the wrong side.

Not to high jack the thread but has anyone had problems with the annealeez not turning cases. It works ok with longer cases but short ones I have a problem they turn half way and stop. I can run them without the torch on and they do fine but doesn’t anneal very well.

I had that issue when I changed the torch head from a pencil head to a swirl head and annealing my .308 cases. I solved at issue by simply setting up the direction of the flame to point away from the wheel while still keeping the case neck well within the flame. I haven't had that issue since and it's been a few years since I set it up that way getting a good even annealing.

It's a friction issue and I was having this problem with my .308 cases when I first got my Annealeez. To solve the problem, I did two things: 1. I sanded the end of that flange that's just above the lower wheel so that is was much smoother and produces less friction to the case as the case was being turned against it; 2. I bent that flange in a little so that there was less pinching effect on the case as the case was being turned. Ever since, my cases are being turned with no hiccups and giving me a nice even anneal.

I've done 1000's of PPC cases on mine and never had a problem with the wheels overheating. I have my torch head pointed out away from the wheel. The wheels for the PPC cases are thinned than the ones that you use for the 308 size cases. T also found that the cases will turn more evenly if they have no traces of lube on them. I always clean them with a little alcohol first.

My problem was I couldn’t get the torch head point away from the wheels very easily. The smaller wheels definitely helped with that. Obviously many of us have different models of the annealeeze and some models this is more of a challenge than others in my opinion. Buy you some smaller wheels and you’ll be satisfied.

I had problems with 6br cases and melted part of wheeles. Emailed Analeez and was told I had to adjust flame well. No response to emails after that. Apperantly you only get one tech support email response. Then a freind told me I needed thinner wheels and could order them. I ordered two sets and got crap for wheels that didn't have enough blue on them to rotate brass like the bigger wheels. Another $50 down the drain. Works good on 308, 284 cases. Good luck with 6ppc. You could probobly make some even thinner wheels for 6ppc or cut some wide ones thinner. THe torch just barley adjusts away from wheels with 6br cases. You might try modifying torchead so you could get better angle whthout hose hitting the metal face.

Thanks everyone for the input I am going to bite the bullet and get an amp when they become available again. Tired of messing with it.
I decided, after considering the Bench Source, that I wasn’t going to be happy with open flames in my reloading room……bit the bullet and bought an AMP…..happy days are here again.

I had issues with the annealeez when dealing with dasher and br brass. I only got one reply from Annealeez and after that he stopped responding to emails or issues.
I had the smaller br wheels but after a few cases they would start melting and leaving plastic residue on cases which was a pain to remove. I put some foil in the opening for the case and it helped a bit but in the end it was best to only do 50 cases at a time.

My other issue was inconsistent annealing of my 284 cases and I traced it to the wheel not spinning the cases. When I setup the annealer without the flame, all the cases were spinning. As soon as I applied the flame it would stop spinning cases after about 5 or 6 cases. I tried several things and I even applied a fresh coating of the blue gasket material that is included on the wheels. Nothing seemed to work.

I finally got tired of the minor issues with this annealer and sold it. I started with a benchsource, then AMP Gen 1, Gen 2, annealeez and finally the Ugly Annealer. Having tested all these units, I’ve come to the conclusion after testing at 1000 yards that if you get the brass hot enough for good annealing in the neck/shoulder junction that’s all you need. I have achieved consistent resizing, brass life, excellent chrono numbers and most importantly great performance on target. After owning several annealers I also know that I do not need to spend over $300 to achieve good annealing and performance on target.

The ugly annealer seems to be very well built, No plastic wheels, easy to setup, consistent, handles several pieces of brass, small foot print, no need for extra wheels or pilots and it includes everything in the box to handle all the calibers I shoot. For the price this unit cannot be beat: https://www.amazon.com/ノーブランド-Annealer-Annealing-Treating-International/dp/B09FNXG46L
