6PPC and Nosler reload manual

The Nosler reloading manual lists only 6PPC USA load data. Has anyone used 6PPC USA load data to make up loads for the 6PPC? Is it it safe?

I ask because if I understand what I am reading in Noslers manual, there should be very little difference if used in either the 6PPC or the 6PPC USA. This sounds wrong to me but may someone with hands on experience please shine some light on this for me.

I have all the different powders for 6ppc loads.

I was curious about Nosler loads since I was going to make up a few loads for nosler ballistic tips. I bought the 55 and 70 grain bullets. Seems that Berger is spammed all over the place and wanted to give Nosler a try.

I like to use Load data from the manufacturer of the bulletsame I'm using. Just an old habits. I was quite surprised to see that Nosler cut the list short to just the 6PPC USA.

I am just planning to shoot targets right now. I will probably just put a Burris fullfield 2 3-9x40 with the regular duplex reticle on. I was thinking grey squirrels or maybe if I ever make it up to Montana, prairie dogs. I inherited the thing so curiosity got the better of me and I bought a Nosler reloading manual and some 55 and 70 grain ballistic tips to see how accurate it is. When I opened the manual the following week, I noticed it only offered data for the 6 PPC USA. after reading further into that section about the cartridge, it says that the loads were worked up on a 6PPC for the the USA version and there should not be much difference. That was kind of a red flag to me though. I contacted Nosler, but the gentleman never returned my phone call on the facts behind this. I am assuming the gentleman was unable to contact the source of the data for confirmation. I dont know, its kind of like forgetting to switch your scale from grams to grains before weighing the powder. I just dont trust that it should be ok. I have plenty of load data, but just want to know if anyone has used Noslers 6 PPC USA data on their 6PPC.

Before offering any load advice we need to know about the rifle. Probably more different PPC chambers than any other cartridge. Main concern is the neck diameter.

The rifle is a Sako 6PPC with a stainless steel 1.25" .274" neck straight bull barrel 1:14" twist rate. forget what length it is. as to which model the rifle was, I am not sure. It is of the A series design with the conical cover on the back of the bolt. It has a 3 digit serial number beginning with the letter A. My gunsmith tells me there were 3 versions made, A..B.. and then a C. all with three digit serial numbers. It has a factory Sako A series varmint stock that was opened up to accept the boat anchor barrel. Never been shot. Unfortunately, someone decided to drill and tap the integrated scope mounts.

Ohh yeah Im done turning necks, I watched my dad turn necks for 25 years. I did it for five. It gives me gag reflex....LOL Thank goodness its a .274" otherwise it may be a conversation piece to hold my patio door open with.

The loads listed in the Nosler manual should be safe in your ..274 neck chamber. The manual states they used Sako brass in their load work up. In measuring some 6 ppc Sako case necks and 80 gr. Nosler bullets your loaded round neck OD should be 0.269 which allows plenty clearance to the chamber. I would recommend H322 as it is not finicky with temp/ humidity changes.
The scope will be a definite handicap to wringing out the best accuracy....mainly because it lacks a parallax adjustment.

Thank you. Yeah, I may sale 6PPCand buy an Sako A1 Varmint in 223 R.E.M. Its will be more of my shooting style. Thank you once again.
