6ppc 14 twist barrel, don't know what I want to do.

I am thinking of re-chambering this Savage Pre-Fit barrel,

6ppc, 14 twist, 24" length, small shank stainless heavy varmint.

I am never going to shoot a 6ppc, with the 14" twist, what should I re-chamber it to?

Dennis

Chamber it in 6BR with a very short throat and a larger (bigger number) throat angle, and shoot 55 grain plastic tipped varmint bullets very fast, with a lot of 133. My friends have done this.

Boyd, exactly what I am looking for. What speeds are you getting with the 55's?

Still looking for more options even though Boyd started with a good one.

Repeat...do what Boyd said.

Or, hog it out and build a 6MM Rem AI, shoot 75 grain VMAX at very high velocity and send woodchucks into the stratosphere.

Or do what Boyd said and it will last a long time, be lots of fun

What range are you shooting at ? I'd say sell the PPC and get what you want and not be limited to the 14 twist
