6mmBR loads

My 6BR is back at the smith's getting the preferred barrel on it and in the meantime Id like to gather some load data. I'll use Varget powder...that Im sure of but also have some ??...hmm...H380 maybe it is??. Bullets of weights from 55gr Sierra's to 105 Berger VLD.

Any suggestions on a nice ACCURATE load?? ( Lapua casings....CCI primers)

I use 68gn. Berger and 70gn SMK, I use the same load for both, 33.3gn N135 at temp from 7°C-22°C, and 33.5gn when it's colder.

I use Lapua cases and CCI BR4 primers.

I have 13.5 twist, suppose you have 8 twist for the heavier bullets ?

I shoot .2" groups with this load and some even smaller.

I use Sierra Matchking 70 grain bullets in mine. Even though Sierra does not recommend it, I found that IMR4064 powder will put them into one hole (if I do my part!)

Sully,
Not sure what a "preferred barrel" is and you didn't mention the twist. But mine is a 1:8 (and you need a 1:7 or 1:8 to shoot that weight of bullet) and it loves 68 gr Bart's HPBT's being pushed by 30.5 Gr of VVN133 OR on the higher end of the bullet scale, Sierra 107 Matchkings being pushed by 28.1 Gr of RL15. Both put together really nice and tight 5 shot groups at 100 yds.

Depending on your twist rate i would consider the Berger 108 hybrids, they have both a tangent ogive and secant ogive making the easy to tune and very efficient like the VLDs, Varget is always a good choice in the 6br also

a 27 inch long 1:8 twist as compared to the 22" long same rate rifling

My standard load for my 8 twists is the time proven 30 grs. of Varget with either the 107 Sierra MatchKing #1570 and the 105 Berger # 24428. Both with CCIBR4 primers. Seat 'em to any length you want, it does not matter.

I have the 105gr Bergers but have 105 Hornady's match slugs to try out. I'll take a look at the Sierra's for sure. Thanks

My accuracy load is:

55 gr NBT
32 gr Re 10X
Rem 7 1/2 Primers
Lapua Brass

Shoots in the .1's and .2's and on a no wind day its not uncommon to get in the .0's if I do my part. In fact I just shot a 33 shot group that measured .292" today and it was very breezy.

Goodluck with your build and good shooting!
