6mmbr in ar15

I want to know if anyone has an ar15 in the 6mmBR out there? I need loads, problems, feedback,etc..
I've built 2 uppers so far now I need to shoot and load ammo for pd in SD.

I know this is a late reply, but if you are still interested ...

Try this site: http://www.bratrifles.com/

Eric Bellows and his partner at BR Armament Tech. have done extensive work to develop an AR upper in 6BR. They use a larger bolt, compared to a .223 AR. In addition to the larger bolt, there is a modified bolt carrier, modified upper receiver, a larger barrel extension, and an all new magazine. You can drill around his site to find load and velocity information, plus comparisons to other calibers.

I have no relationship with BRAT - I just know Eric, who shoots with our local club.

I have a 6BR AR-15 upper we put together and it's o.k., but I still like the 6mmAR and 6mmAR Turbo 40 uppers better because there are readily available 'no hassle' magazines that feed perfectly and you don't have to get into the tradeoffs and issues that need to be made to try to squeeze a 6BR into the AR-15 platform, and there are a number of them).

For load data with a 6BR out of an AR-15, you can use the 6mmAR Turbo 40 load data on our website as the case capacity is the same between the two cases and I found the loadings to be comparable. Lately I have had very excellent results with the newly released Berger 100 gr BT bullets, for longer range use). These bullets seem to shoot well out of a magazine jumping some or loaded long right near the lands,it does not seem to matter). With around 30.2 gr of RL 15 powder, you can run the 100 gr bullets around 2900 fps with very excellent accuracy, this is in the Turbo 40 cartridge, have not tried them in the 6BR upper yet, but I would think that might be just as good a combo.

i dont know but wouldnt 1 of the new remington ar-30 rigs be better.just a new barrel in 6br.just my .02

Right now there are essentially no Rem 30 AR rifles or ammo to be had so that's not really a practical option.

Are we talking about a truly accurate AR-15 or just blowing bullets fast with blaster gun accuracy?

If you are deer hunting a two inch 100 yard gun is great, but if you are looking for a gun that can run .5 MOA consistently, you're not going to do that just by sticking a different barrel on factory 'rig'.

The 30 AR also appears to be designed as a low pressure round because the platform they are using for is not ideal for a high pressure high velocity application.

no all i was getting at was using an new remington because of the 30ar case.mags are alreadt set for shorter cases, some slight mods may be needed) and bolt is set for .473 case heads.and the 30 ar isnt much bigger than a 6 br.then put a good barrel on and see.i never said it would work or wouldnt.it was an idea.im not a smith i was just saying.

He already has two uppers, just needs loads. I had a 260 and 308 AR-10, my loads always ended up about 1-1/2 grs less than a bolt gun load. Pull 2 grs out of the bolt gun loads and build up from there. Remember, a lot of loads you see are HOT so take them with a grain of salt.

H4895 or Varget should be good powders for an AR in 6BR.

I have a AR style 6BR built by Dtech. I,so far have shot it mostly at 600yds with the normal loads for that distance using 105 Berger VLD's with very good results. I worked on a few loads using H322 for 55 grain Nosler's. I tried anywhere from 31.5 to 32.2 and all seemed about the same. I have a 1/8 twist Shilen barrel and it does much better with the longer bullets. As far as mags, Brat rifles has some mags that work for the 6BR. I have one of them, but I haven't tried it yet for semi auto use. They look first class.

I am currently in Co. and will be shooting some PD's with my Dtech AR's in .204. I didn't bring my 6BR upper for this trip. Maybe next year when I get a load I really like. If I can help you let me know.

Robert:thanks for all the info ! next week we'll be heading to SD to do pds. I'll let you know how the 6mmbr 15 works. How many rounds do have through your ar15 in 6br? I'll have close to 500 rds through it when I come back. My loads are 31gr. n135 70gr. nosler bt. 34gr varget 55 nosler. 1/2' or better groups if I do my part. By the way 6.8 mags work great no tweeking.
