6mmBR Case Length

Excuse another newbie question but.... what is the appropriate "trim-to" length for a fired 6mmBR case? The diagram on the Cartridge Guide page shows a case length of approx. 1.56" but a few of the reloading guides,Sierra, Lapua) suggest a trim length of 1.550-1.551". I plan on FL sizing the cases with a Forster die after de-priming, then trimming to length.

The best way to tell for your chamber is to take a chamber cast & measure your chamber's neck length. There are at least 2 "standard" length cases for the 6mmBR. My new, last spring) BR has a neck sufficient for the 1.560" length & with new Lapua brass & 4 loads per case, I haven't needed to trim yet. My chambering reamer is made to the Remington dimensions & is tight on the body of the Lapua brass. I had to make a small base die to tighten them up so they'd chamber easily. The length however, is the same as the current Norma chambering that Lapua makes brass for. They are approaching that length & I will anneal the necks, resize, & then trim to 1.550" after I fire the loads now in the cases.

This is the best way to go !! You will be surprised.. My trim length is 1.575"
